Bass Associates, B&L Marketing anyone deal with them?

Hello! I am in a mess! I took out some payday loans when my husband was off work with surgery. It was a very unexpected one. With all of those loans and our hospital bills(he got laid off a week before the surgery so we had no insurance)we contacted a lawyer and decided we needed to file bankruptcy. This has been very hard for me. Well we have a one year old who needs diapers and etc. and I couldn't afford to pay them all. So I talked with my attorney and he told me to put a stop payment on the account at the bank. I did. I got two phone calls one from United Federal Band and today Bass & Associates call threating me with going to jail and KY being a no tolerance state and I was in serious trouble. I could have handled it but they called my work place asking for some in personall and it was me. So I told him it was me and it started. First off can someone tell me if B&L Marketing is licensed in KY? What are the laws? Can they take me to court? Do they have to go by KY laws or there states? Someone please help.

ataylor: Please come to my site. You are in no need to worry about these crooks. Look at my site and about a quarter way down, you will see a story titled: Watch out for these thieving companies. (http://anthonylemons.blogspot.com)

If you will use the search at the top right of this page, you can put in Bass & Associates and get information about them and you can look up the laws for your state. There are plenty of people here who can help you with everything. Right now, take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Know first that these people will use scare tatics to get you to pay. It might help if you list who your loans are with, how much you borrowed and how much you have paid back. Also if you are in the process of filing bankruptcy, you do not have to listen to these people. Just direct them to your attorney. Give them your attorney's name and his phone number and let your attorney handle this. That is what you are paying him to do. You have come to the right place for help and support. Hang in there.

Bass and assoc has a long been posted about on this board. In addition to anthony's story, you will also find many other's experiences with them on this site. They are the worst of the worst.

I was looking at the dates of the original postings here, and I can not believe that Bass is still operating as if they are bulletproof. Someone with enough muscle needs to take them out already.

By the way, several Bass and Assoc employees regularly look at this site. Some have even posted here before.

Cooling-off Period: None
Repayment Plan:

Collection Limits:

Where to Complain, Get Information:
Regulator: Kentucky Office of Financial Institutions
Address: 1025 Capital Center Drive, Suite 200 Frankfort, KY 40601
Phone: (800) 223-2579
Fax: (502) 573-8787
Regulatory Contact: Gary Davis,, Branch Manager
http://www.kfi.ky.gov/

Check this link http://fi.ky.gov/scr/ifs/default.asp?div=cs and search for the licensing info of B&L Marketing. Criminal actions are prohibited in KY but you are still responsible to pay the debt according to the charges mentioned in your state. Review the laws and calculate the total payments done towards the loan. Instead of dealing with any collector, try to pay the balance directly to the original company. Bass and Associates looks like a suspicious and illegal company.

We can all tell when a Ass...I mean, a Bass employee post a comment. It is so cheesy and kiss ass sounding.

That is why I like to post comments here, for them to read. Direct comments for them to see that we are informed and not afraid of their empty threats, and the more people I see come here, talking about Bass, the more I am hopeful that our government will face these crooks down with guns blazing. So to speak.

But they haven't been able to do anything yet. They don't have a leg to stand on because they are violating the laws and people are getting aware of their rights. The legal bureaus are receiving complaints against them everyday. What can this company do in a situation like this? Violate more laws and scare people to get their money and perhaps, recover the cost of the penalties expected in the future.

I posted a comment a few minutes ago in a different thread, I said, how many complaints to all of the enforcement agencies do we have to make before action is taken?

Thank you all so much. I am not a bad person and I am trying to get things back up and going. I called KY's Office of Finanical Instutions and talked to a real nice guy and he informed me that online payday lenders are illegal in KY. He told me to close my account and pay them what I owe them by Kentucky law and go from there. I took out a 200.00 loan and have paid them 420.00. So my next question is how do I calculate how much I owe them?

I just got off the phone with my dad and he just got done talking to his friend who happens to be a judge. He told him to have me to keep a recorder by the phone. When they call record them but first tell them that they are being recorded. He said their attitude will change and they better not threaten me on tape they are being investigated in KY. He said he would help me out. So they better not call back I am prepared with the help of you guys and my dad's friend.I am willing to do almost anything to see that those people get what they deserve. He also told me that they owe me money and to be sure to tell them that. Thanks AnthonyLemons and everybody else. I thought I was going to lose it at one point, but you guys help me out. I owe you guys.
