Well, I got a very sweet card and a $25 gift card from Barnes and Noble from my baby--who's away at college.
While this is extremely sweet and thoughtful, the one thing I want more than anything else is my children's time. I was remembering the time my daughter "took" me to see the first Harry Potter movie when she was in the 6th grade--and looked over at me with stars in her eyes and said "Quidditch is the BEST game!! I wish I could fly!!" Or the time my oldest and I went to see Titanic (she was also in the 6th grade) and she grabbed napkins from the snack counter (we had no food) and said "Mom, you'll need it, trust me". What a tear jerker!
I miss my kids...

let me give a shout out and respect to all mom's
out there.it is a 24-7 thing.it is not easy
and that is understating it,so a day early,but

Happy Mother's Day!!!
Wow, I'm going to get emotional here..
Andrew is nine now, and is my entire world. I could live without anything else, just not him. He completes me, he is the very best of me..(And my husband too, but this isn't about him!  )
I'm proud of myself for a lot of things, but the job that we've done raising Andrew means the most. No matter what else we've done, we've brought up a fabulous, smart, HAPPY kid, and that makes me feel so wonderful. The best things in the whole world are the gorgeous, misshapen clay bowls and vases he makes me at school every holiday..They sit in my hutch with things that are much more valuable monetarily, but mean absolutely nothing next to Andrew's made-with-love gifts.

I have this purple dinasour magnet still on my frig that was made when my little one was in kindegarten (She's 18 now). It broke in half but I couldn't bear to throw it out. Who knew?

I have his cards plastered all over my dresser mirror...every one since he was 3. My son is in the 5th grade and this year his class hosted a Mothers Day tea. It was so wonderful to see all the children dressed up. They made placemats and cards, book marks and grew flowers and made us candy bags. They served all the moms finger sandwiches, chips and tea or water. It was so wonderful..While we were eating they read poems they wrote, sang songs and read stories. They even had to draw a picture of themselves and us and we had to guess which child and mother picture our child drew. And I was completely suprised, I picked my son's the first try! Like Fins stated...he is the best thing I have ever done in my life.

Happy Mothers Day to all moms near and far!
I had a nice day with my boys - did the church breakfast & service together, then came home for a bit and relaxed, while my oldest started building a platform out in the garage for our extra fridge to get it up off the concrete...then to top it all off, I took him to a friend's house to use their jacks to hold the van up while he changed the oil by himself for the first time. (I coached him along while he got all dirty.  ) The youngest gave me one of those cute handmade clay bowls they make in school..thinking I'll take it to work to hold paperclips or something. So I got a precious handmade item, breakfast, and an oil change for Mother's Day!
Daughter never called. At this point, I'm expecting she won't call. First time she's done this, but I'm not surprised. She's making some pretty rotten choices in her life right now, and I'm not at all pleased with the direction she's headed. She knows that I'm completely aware of what's going on in her life (thanks to her fiancee's mom keeping in touch with me), and that's probably why she's not calling. I love her to death and always will - but right now, she's not acting like the child I raised. I know that happens to almost all parents at some point - but you don't expect the child you worked so hard to instill good values in to turn around and not only completely reject everything you taught them, but to take a header down a path so self-destructive that you expect any day to get an unpleasant phone call - and you don't know if it will be eviction, arrest, or something worse.

Hang in there Sue..Right now she's at an age where she knows waaaay more than you do. She's going to reach a point when she realizes that you are the most important person in her life..And that maybe you are kinda smart! My little boy is only 9, so I haven't been there yet, but I remember a time when I didn't think twice about my mom's feelings. I was never self-destructive and never got into trouble, but I could be nasty to her at times. Looking back, I know it must've hurt her, and I'm totally ashamed..And I think your daughter will come to that stage. Just be patient, love her, and PRAY!!

Thanks Fins! Yeah, there's lots of prayers going on right now - and I really love her - that's why it hurts so much to see her totally screwing up her life right now, and doing things that I know for a fact will give her problems for years to come. But I also know I can't stop her from making bad choices, any more than my parents could stop me from the ones I made when I was younger.

Sue, know how you feel!! My youngest son some years ago, made a really bad choice and choice of friends, and had to pay the price for it. Think that made a difference--Nope  He got to repeat it again, and learned how grave consequences can affect you later on.
He is with a girl for a couple of years now, and hopefully hasn't made any more choices like he did-they are way too broke to make too many bad ones
Hang in there. Sometimes God has to pinch our ears to get us to go on the path HE wants us too. Hang in there, PM me if you want to talk or gripe!! And like Fins says--PRAY--it's amazing how God works these things out..KAren
