Going to the dentist

Message Author
PostPosted: Mon Jun 09, 2008 9:16 pm Subject: Going to the dentist

I hate going to the dentist with a passion and have to go tomorrow for a cleaning. Then they will probably tell me I need tons of work done of which I can't afford.

Just curious if anyone else hates the dentist as much as I do.

Oh, no...

I hate the sadistic bastard at least as much as you and any two other people on this board combined. I gotta go see one sometime soon, and I do need tons of work.

Well, you know the drill.

But all kidding aside, I never went to a dentist in my life, and believe it or not, my teeth are not falling out. They are actually in pretty fair shape. About 30 years ago, during a school physical, one doc said I had cavities. I don't plan on going to the dentist unless I am in pain. And I hope that does not happen anytime soon. I guess maybe it was because I was chicken, I saw those TV programs about people yelling when they went to the dentist. I know it's not that bad, they use painkillers.

I do not mind the dentist, it is just that I hate to tell him/her that I cannot afford this all at the same time and can I make payments after my insurance kicks in...that is the hard part for me.

I do have dental insurance and it is awful coverage. Makes me mad they don't pay hardly anything towards any treatments but alot of dentists around here don't want to mess with you unless you have dental insurance. Gee, I wonder why that is?

Be true to your teeth or they will be false to you! I shyed away from dentists for years. Bad idea! I got an abscess that got into the bone and became a major issue. The was no pain just a rotten taste from my sinus cavity. Markofkane do not be a fool, get your butt to a dentist soon! My neighbor died a horrible, painful death from a bad tooth that he did not know he had! He was only 49! No joke!

I took my son to the Dentist about a month ago. I explained that he didn't have dental insurance and that he was on disability and couldn't afford much. They told me over the phone that they would charge about $130.00 for the tooth being pulled and office and x-rays.

By the time it was said and done, they wanted to do over three thousand dollars worth of work to save the tooth. I again said he was on disablilty and to just pull it.

When I got ready to pay, the amount was $260.00, to pull it, I was so mad and told them of the price quote, etc., but got nowhere.

I promptly told everyone I knew not to go there Laughing , I am going to have quite a bit of dental work done as soon as we get our stimulus payment, I could think of other things to do with that money, but guess the Dentist will get it, not the previous one, but a new dentist!..

I had a wonderful dentist in NJ and since I moved I am afraid to go anywhere. He always charged what he said and never tried to sell up! He reminded me of Doogie Houser he was so young looking! He always left someone with you when he was not in the room and had an aquarium and a TV in every room also. The waiting room had the newest copies of Gourmet, Country Living and Outdoor Life as well as Sports Illustrated and New York!
I never minded going there! I miss them all!

Tania, you tell your husband to stop smoking because you want him to be around when you get old. I used to smoke two packs a day and it took a week in the hospital to make me quit. If I had quit earlier I would not have wound up there!

DEAR FROG I SMOKED TWO (2) PACKS A DAY BEFORE I MARRIED MY HUSBAND AND I STOP TO SMOKE WHEN I MARRIED MY HUSBAND IN 1983.
I STOPPED TO SMOKE BECAUSE I WANT TO SHOW HIM HOW I STOP TO SMOKE FOR HIM.
MY HUSBAND DID NOT STOP TO SMOKE BECAUSE ME
AND I UNDERSTAND IS VERY DIFFICULT FOR HIM
AND FOR MANY PEOPLE TO STOP TO SMOKE.
NOW HE IS BLIND AND MENTALLY ILL AND HE LOVE THE CIGARETTES AND I KNOW HOW IS BAD FOR HIM OR FOR ANY PERSON TO SMOKE CIGARETTES .
I TRY TO STOP HIM TO SMOKE CIGARETTES YEARS AGO WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS.
HE DO NOT SMOKE INSIDE OUR HOUSE BECAUSE I FORBID HIM TO SMOKE INSIDE OUR HOUSE.
FROG YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT CIGARETTES FRIEND
AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR GREAT ADVISE FRIEND.
I HATE CIGARETTES DEAREST FROG.

You are right, it is very hard for some. Especially when they face challenges in life. I promised my wife I would quit whemn I was forty. I went past that by seven years until I suffered a mild heart attack. It was easy for me to quit. My wife gave up cigarettes for lent and never started again! If your husband really enjoys it let him alone. Just pray that he will quit on his own! I am sorry to hear that he has lost his sight. It must be difficult for both of you! You are in my prayers!
