You have to file a return in order to get a stimulus payment. You don't have to owe or pay taxes, but you must file a 2007 return. The Infernal Revenue Sadists use those returns to determine eligibility, and figure out where/how to send the payments.

No return for 2007 = No stimulus payment.

I think it's horrible that the Governement can put SOO many stipulations on things. Like the Rebates....it's probably those who CAN"T file Tax Returns (for whatever reasons) that need the money most..no matter HOW much ( or how little) it may be.

They are using the taxes that are filed to know who is where and how much to give them, they have a special 1040 for those who don't normally file taxes. I think using the taxes for dispersing this is a good idea, and that you must have made the $3000, many, many, many, many times people work and quit, earning much less and get back six times more than I do and I go to work everyday. I get reallllllllllllllly irritated around tax season, with the people who barely work and get back the huge check. I think if the work is there and they don't take it, NO refund. It is time people start holding their own, we have toooooo many lazy, healthy young individuals who chose not work, can and choose not too. I don't feel that I should be supporting them or their offspring. Not being mean here, just would like to take home a little more of my paycheck every once in a while.

With the stimulus package, it is going to go on weather you made $3000 or not, you can go to irs.gov, put economic stimulus in the search and all the different scenarios will come up. good luck sdchargers, I know that you work hard, see you on the other forums. You should qualify for this right? Does not matter if you owe or not, if you owe, I think they will keep the part that you owe and give you the rest.

i think I DO qualify. I DID file taxes and DID get a refund. I agree....if people are able to work, why don't they? Having job, for several years, gives you some kind of 'credit' on your part. Having a billion jobs, within several years looks 'bad' on you. I DO work hard. I think those people ( that are able to work) and DO work, have more self-respect for themselves.

Hello, GUEST. I think the above posts were talking about the Stimulus Package that people received last Summer. I DO know the Government has some kind of 'Package' to bail-out the Banks, dealerships, etc., THIS year. However.....I don't know anything about another 'Package' for 'us' THIS year.
