Am I outta line?

I tend to collect them from all over. That one above was used on a bike board a couple years back, IIRC. In extremis, I've even been known to build'em myself. Whatever works.

I love the fact that they threaten to "download" you, what exactly is that? Has anyone figured that out?

Chris Ding-A-Ling . . .Er I mean, Dingler.

I don't know what "Magic Kingdom" you're living in; however, Il-legal Mediation Practice violated the fdcpa from the very first phone call. Then compounded their error by never sending anything in writing within five days of the initial phone call. Then not giving me their address, when I asked for it. And being verbally abusive to me when I did call them back asking for their address. And continuing to call me after I sent them a "Cease and Desist" letter.

Do I need to go on? Have I made my point?

I got "zero" respect from them from the start of their collection attempt, and from what I have read on this forum I am definitely not in the minority. So don't give me the line about Collectors only giving what they get, it sure doesn't fly with me. Especially with Il-legal Mediation Practice.

Ron, you know you can sue them for $1,000 per call after they had received that letter, right?

Yes, I did. They settled out of court.

I just wish more people would go after these @$$-clowns each time the fdcpa gets violated by LMP towards them. We really need to bring this company down, or at least in check.

I would not have settled out of court. I would also have filed complaints with their state attorney generals office and the FTC

Nise Jackson, I'm sorry you fell for their nonsense! It is not a crime to owe money, you cannot be arrested. Every time I read a post like yours, I just see red!

I'm guessing you live in Jacksonville, then?

First off, you need to file complaints against Il-legal Mediation Practice with the FTC and Florida's Attorney General's office. Them threatening to come to your job and to have you arrested would never have happened, what's worse it is illegal under the fdcpa. If you live in Jacksonville, I E-mailed a reporter with a local news station here last week about these @$$-clowns. He did respond back advising he would check into it; however, maybe you should e-mail him too. If you can, register on this site and send me a PM and I'll give you his name and what station he works for. If enough people that have been victimized by this company contact him, maybe we can get them exposed on the news. Worth a start!

Then maybe the government will take notice too.

OMG am I reading this right?? Ok..nothing new about these guests telling us to ‘pay your bills’..but ‘get rid of cable TV, skip a car payment’ are you serious??? Ok..let me get this straight…basically if we owe one CA we should just forget our car payment, drop cable and pay the CA. But look now, we have a voided contract with the cable company so that will goto collections, we have a repoed car and now we have no method to get to work and pay the CAs off. Ohhh yeah..that is SUCH sound advice!

oh gosh, I just got a weird automated message informing me to press one, but silly computer left it on a voicemail, not a live person..
anyway, I looked up the name on the caller id...its Legal Mediation Practice, I have no outstanding payday loans, or does my hubby...we had 2 for a very short time last summer, and paid them off a long time ago, and believe you me, I have EVERY receipt...

Anyway, I dont have time to 'join' here right now, but I will, before having kids, I was an Operations Manager for a Collection Agency...and had worked my way up the collection agency ladder, and ended up in an executive position...before you slay me, know this. I was SO VERY shocked at the harsh tactics I was 'taught' and 'trained' to do, that instead of riding the grey line, and crossing it, like my coworkers ALWAYS did, I took the higher route, and vowed to change things.
The agency I worked for (large agency, services mostly government accounts, parking tickets, civil fines, muni tickets, those kinds of things). When I started, this agency had maybe 15 collectors and maybe 3 big clients..most of the collectors got joy over harassing people. The higher ups wanted change, and I brought it. I changed everything. We turned into a respectful agency, and 11 of the original 13 were fired for not following fdcpa or even walking the grey line of it...and I built the collection floor with people who respected the people who owed the money (I hate the word DEBTOR, especially since I have owed money before, and still do, and its just so negative)...anyway, when I left we had over 25 government accounts, won with our 'new attitude' and responsible employees, and accounts from all over the US. I had 4 managers under-me, and then 2 team leads under them, and about 10-12 collectors under them. We thrived and made so much more money with respect..oh, and the whole last year of my employment there, we got ONE, yes ONE complaint via the BBB/banking commissioner/fdc....and it was just because someone thought we were violating the DNC list, and they filed it without knowing we actually were not a sales call...and it was dismissed....I have since heard, they have had some troubles after letting me go (whole other story, my family leave was up due to a preterm labor, so they were legally able to 'let me go'...morally, it was a different story)..

BUT, I think that I can offer lots of great consumer protection/fdcpa/complaint info to the discussions, and will be joining officially soon!

Personally, I think this posting deserves to be under it's very own topic, not "marred" by being under the Il-legal Mediation Practice one.

Guest! You are truly a "Guest" I don't mind reading a post from! It's the Collectors like you and FYI that do follow the law that are so rarely heard from or about. I personally thank you for posting and please do join the forum and offer any advice or support you can, whenever you can.

If you do call Il-legal Mediation Practice back, just be prepared for whatever garbage they do throw at you. I'm pretty sure you will as you are already an insider. If you read this entire thread, I'm sure you're already familiar with their tactics.

Oooh, oooh, did they wish you good luck at the end of the message? I'm curious to know as that seems to be their latest tactic. Probably not, since it seems from your post they must have used an auto-dialer.

Thanks again! Can't wait to hear more from you.
