I received a call today from Legal Mediation Services asking for me to pay an old loan in full etc... - I called the people who I got the loan from and asked to set up payment plans - they gave me a number to call of the people that were in charge of my account - I called and it was NOT Legal mediation Services but aanother company!

I would suggest sending a debt validation letter/cease and desist to Legal Mediation Practice, then. Work with the CA you were given by the original PDL company and try to get it resolved. Make sure you keep all records of payments and a paid-in-full letter for future use if another CA gets hold of the account.

I agree with Paul. If you contact these idiots by phone, they are just going to harass you and scare you with threats even more. Just send them the letter and they will have to leave you alone until they validate the debt. Which they probably won't do.

Be sure to stress in the letter you don't want them contacting you at work, they are only to contact you by USPS mail.

You cannot be arrested for a debt, it is a civil matter not a criminal matter. The worse they can do is sue you.

Before you pay, make them validate the debt and that they have the right to collect it, also ask for a PIF letter when they are paid.

Got the standard call at work today. Told me the same lines as everyone else. Freaked me out at first, but my husband calmed me down, and reminded me there is no debtors prison. They claimed my account had been closed...it is not. They insinuated that I would be arrested. Told me my agreement (with WEB PAYDAY) made this a class 1 bad check. I can't find such a thing. Told me to fax a hand written authorization to use my debit card (didn't do that)...by 4pm or they would show up at my work. I guess I would just have to call security on them. I spoke with a Robert Taylor, told him I would call back, and I am not going to. Thanks for all of the great info!!!

In response to their "class 1 bad check" comment, I would have told them they are "class 1 full of crap!"

Glad you got the information you needed so you would be better armed when dealing with them.

Well this company has contacted me and they changed there name to H&P Capital. They have threatened me with legal action but no documention. I contacted Payday services which in turn sent it to a collection agency named AI Services who in turn outsourced to this company. Well the man I spoke to was very helpful and said that's all he hears about this company is negative feedback. He said to wait six months and than they get it back and they are willing to work with me. So it goes to show you who is willing to work with you and who's not. They aren't willing to send any paper to me through e-mail or certified mail.

The next time you get a call and they unload all that 'you will go to jail' crap, inform them that you know your rights and it is they who can be slapped with a lawsuit for making illegal threats they know and you know they can't keep.

Absolutely! Don't be intimidated by these idiots.

I would still send them a debt validation/partial cease and desist letter, just to cover your bases with them. Just do a search on their name in the upper right-hand corner of this page and can find their contact information.

I wondered what was going on at their office, i saw all the yellow reserved parking signs for LMP had been taken down. I figured they had been raided and shut down but I never could find anything in the news regarding them. They must have just changed their name because of how easy it was to screw up their name: Il-Legal Mediation Mal-Practice. I'll drive a little closer by their office next time and see if they are even still in the building, they probably moved too.

No worries, though, I can track them down to whatever cave they slither away to hide in.

They changed there name to H&P Capital from what I was told by AIS Services who outsourced this to them. The guy on the phone was very helpful in giving me all there information and telling that they get people calling them in tears from what they say. He told me to wait 5 to 6 months and my attorney told me to get a letter and statement sent to me certified mail. They also said that the practice of threating people is IILEGAL. What to do?

Well my attorney said to get a lettter and statement of the dollor amount owed. Also they told me that it is illegal to threatened anyone over the phone. The collection agency who outsourced this account to them said the same thing and was very helphil in giving me all the information I needed against them. They changed there name to H&P Capital probably becasue o the way they treated people and lawsuits against them.
