|
|
Company/Individual reported: Midland Credit Management
Since July 28, 2006 I have received numerous phone calls from a representative of MCM at my place of business. Since this person was requesting to speak to me directly he stated it was of personal nature. My secretary forwarded the messages to me. Since I did not recognize this name I did not return the call. After being interrupted several times by phone calls from this person, my office manager took the call and asked for pertinent details regarding the call. Apparently I have an outstanding balance on an account since 2003. I have never received any written request for payment or phone calls until now.
I returned the phone call in good faith only to get voice mail. He returned my call and asked me for the number I was speaking from??? He speaks with broken English which was very difficult to understand. I tried to call a supervisor which only lead me to voice mail. I decided to address this by certified mail. Now he is calling on the weekend an several times each day.

Look in the 'do it yourself' section for the 'cease and desist letter', to stop phone calls.

Releasing any information to anyone other than yourself, is a violation of the FDCPA laws. Make a complaint to the BBB. They are allowed to call anytime between the hours of 8am and 9pm. If no one answers, then they'll usually call back. Avoiding them only makes things worse. Once you find out the nature of the call, then you can accordingly, and send out a validation & cease letter.
Regards
Mike

Check your credit report. If it is listed there then dispute it. Send a cease and desist letter, Certified mail. If MCM does not stop then, file complaints with your state attorney general's office, the FTC, the Better Business Bureau, etc. I had call from this same company. I followed the intial steps found they were not on my credit report. They do not call anymore.
