Hi Gang,

Well, I've had kind of an interesting day. I went into town to place an ad in our local paper for something that my husband is selling. I've been having computer fits so I just decided to get out of the house. Somehow, I got talking to the receptionist about the forum. I don't remember how it came up but a few minutes later I was talking to some higher ups. They seemed very interested in learning more about the forum. Of course, I gave them a website address. It turns out that they might want me to write an article for the paper about it. It would mainly be about my own experience with debt, mainly payday loans, and how the people here banded together to help each out of the cycle. It turns out someone knew someone who was in the cycle too so they seem to be doing some kind of local investigation. Smile

Actually, I was on the newspaper and yearbook staff in high school. I used to do a lot of writing back in the day and won a few awards. I'm really excited about this and I hope it pans out. I live in a small community but it will be interesting to find out how many people are actually stuck in the pdl trap. Anything we can do to help, right?

You know what's odd? When I got my one personal loan a few years ago, the loan officer told me her friend almost lost her house and car because of payday loans. I think it will hit closer to home than I think. It's sad so I don't mind sharing my experience to give someone else hope. Besides, this has been a personal fight for me for a long time now. I want to see these companies go down in flames. Evil or Very Mad

You have been fighting them hard for a long time. I am not surprised that they cause people to lose their homes. I'm really happy about OH stepping up and putting together this new law. It will help tens of thousands of people, if not more.

Heck, I got us into deeper debt because of it. That's why I had to take out the dang personal loan and I will be paying on it for another couple of years. Talk about a hard lesson learned.

Mishele - look at it this way - when you tell your story, you are going to reachmany people from all walks of life. In that venue, maybe there will be one or two people who think that you are full of beans, but there will also be that single mom who is terrified to answer the door and phone or the young couple who are afraid to go to work because they have been threatened with arrest or job loss. You have been given the oppertunity to bring the pdl monster out of the closet for what it really is - everyones' worst nightmare. I was listening to one of our counsilman on the radio and he was talking about pdls and yea he did mention one of his constituants who sost his house due to pdls. So write you little fingers off and tell the world.
