I haven't been able to really sleep in two days, maybe 'cuz I'm drinking 10 cans of coke a day...all since I've started trying to quit smoking. So damn hard NOT going to the store and buying a pack

Focus on something else or keep yourself busy doing some creative work. The more you think about what you are missing, it's natural that you will have more urge towards smoking. I promise you will not feel restless like this after one week.

Hi Morningstar. Just remember that all of your cravings will pass in time. I heard drinking lots of water will help flush the nicotine out of your system faster, too.

morningstar, have you tried "the patch"? I know quite a few people that it helped with the craving. My brother is trying the "gum". He says it's ugly and brown and looks like crack (LOL!) but it has nicotine in it so he doesn't freak out with the craving. I support you 100% and hope you'll feel better soon. I know I should quit, but I don't have that willpower. You have this. Hang in there.

I should quit too, more power to you. I was going to buy the prescription medication they have out now that works but it is $129.00 for a 30 day supply. OMG!!!I think I will have my husband get the medication under his insurance so that it is not so expensive and we both can quit together. He used the patch, that worked for him. Keep up the good work, I wish you great success.

Thanks for the support everyone. So far, I've had a few sticks, but haven't given up and bought a pack yet. I've tried the patches, gum and lozenges in the past, but they didn't help much. I wish I could get the inhaler...that would probably do the trick.

My husband quit by taking Zyban. He hasn't smoked in 5 years!!! Good luck Morningstar, you can do it. Tweety, hang in there. The headaches will go away eventually. Caffeine headaches are the worst

Morningstar, hang in there it will get better. But until then I will sleep for the both of us lol j/k. I wish I had the willpower to quit. I just got a talking to by the doc. on wednesday about quitting. I told him that I can't quit for a couple of years yet. He asked me why. I told him my kids still live at home lol. He gave me the look
Tweety, your headaches will go away in a couple of days. I gave up soda almost 2 years ago and went through the same thing. I think they are worse than my migraines. I just drank lots of water (thats what I drink now) and took a bottle of advil where ever I went. Don't give in, because if you do they will only come back. But after your headaches are gone a soda here or there will not give you one again, only if you go back to drinking it on a regular basis. I was drinking about 3 cases of Mountain Dew a week (by myself ) But when I gave that up and just drank water I also lost 70 pounds.

Morningstar....I quit 5 years ago for a whole year...I should never have started again.. but one of the things that helped me was: I brushed my teeth everytime my cravings got really bad...for some reson the taste of the toothpaste took it away!! And my breath was certainly sparkling clean!!!

Are you drinking diet Coke or diet drinks? I had to give up on those, because they'd sometimes make my hands tremble as if I were having an attack of nerves. Same with someone else I know. He used to lose sleep and get the shakes, he gave up Diet Coke and was back to normal.
