Welcome to the Commuity Very Happy Are your debts credit cards, payday loans? If you can give us a little more info-no personal info- we can direct you to some solutions. If you signed up for the free credit counseling, someone will contact you soon, watch your e-mail. They will have options such as consolidation, where you can put all your unsecured debts into one payment. There is aslo a Do it Yourself section, under "Our Services", to the side of the screen, you may want to look at. Have all your debt info together when they contact you, so you can see if it will be something to benefit you.Keep us posted on your progress..KAren

You need to manage your debts after doing a proper budgeting with your finance. Keep negotiating with your creditors. This will help you to buy more time or settle for a less amount before they take any legal actions against you. Be honest and explain your present situation. They will be willing to offer you some extensions in your repayments, drop late fees, or even settle for less than the full amount owed. I have read many times that creditors are more willing to settle for less rather than hiring a collection agency and spend money in that area, and possibly get nothing in return.

Be aware that settled in less than original amount is going to show up in your credit report. The reduction will become taxable income and you will be required to pay taxes on it.

Another option may be a community college . . . . . It's less expensive then universities, and you can always transfer if your situation changes.
