I have been faced with financial problems since my divorce. I have credit card debt, laywers fees, car payment, medical bills (from not having insurance). I have been renting an apartment by myself for the last year and a half.
I want to get out of debt so I can start over with my life and by a condo or a house one day. I don't want a huge car payment (that I got stuck with in the divorce), and I want to not worry about things anymore. I want to be financially independent and get on with my life.
Citicards (Credit card) $1400.00
Discover Card $2500.00
Car $14850.00 ($500.00/month payment)
Medical Bills $600.00
At&T Universal Card $1200.00
Lawyers fees $2000.00
Room Store (Furniture) $3000.00

Welcome to the Community Here is a link to help you look at what options you may have concerning your debt at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/ There are ranking charts for Companies, 12 ways to solve your debt, including debt consolidation. You can put all your unsecured debts into one monthly paymnet, with lower interest. You can discuss these with the debt counselor when they contact you. If your medical and car payment are local, I would try to talk with them and work out a payment plan. I paid payments on medical for years because of no insurance. If you have any questions, please ask..Karen

Thanks Karen, you said it all very nicely.
scenni78, look into your finances and calculate how much you will be able to afford in your repayments. You will have a lower repayment plan in the dmp program. And to keep it going, you need to have a fair income more than your expenses.
All your bills will combine together under one plan. Make sure that you stick to the plan once started. The counselor will talk to your creditors and negotiate for some benefits.
