Send them a debt validation letter/....it is their responsiblity to proof to you that the debt is in fact yours!

Refer to the fdcpa laws, Section 809 (b) for inaccurate reporting on your credit. If island national group doesn't remove the item from your credit, file a lawsuit with the help of an attorney. It will be a win win case for you.

Are they even on your credit report? Have you checked? You can get a free copy of your credit report once a year from all three credit reporting agencies.

Is this in relation to a payday loan, do you think? If the debt is not yours, you need to make them provide validation.

Also, if it's a payday loan, chances are good that it's not going to show up on your credit report.

However, as fedupinpa mentioned above, it's a good idea to pull your credit reports just to be sure. Go to annualcreditreport.com and obtain a copy of your report from all three bureaus - it's free, once per year, or when you've been denied credit. There's no program to sign up for or fees to pay.
