I got the phone call this morning asking to talk to my husband or give a number for him or we would be in huge legal trouble. Wouldn't say anything else or give details AT ALL. So, I call the number 800-246-0002 that "Greg Jones" provided and it's this company. I know it's about a Verizon bill that we don't even owe. (See Verizarape.com to hear about them, by the way.) So, I call NES back. The guy told me he couldn't talk to me legally and I told him my husband doesn't talk financial stuff over the phone and doesn't have time to call people who won't identify themselves. I haven't heard since, but what do I do from here? It's a bill I've already disputed with Verizon because I paid my cancellation fee last year just to get away from them. Seems like they are the fraudulent company that just keeps on giving. I'm fairly poor, but have no real debt (besides mortgage) and pay everything I owe, but I'm curious how aggressive they will get in this economy. . .

well i think its time we fight back. i have read the fair debt collection practice act and i feel great. they have grossly violated federal law. i have set up an email with yahoo.com. it is fightingnesback@yahoo.com. i wish anyone who is interested in taking this company down to email a discription of your case. i will bring this to the lawyers and see if we can't begin federal procedings. do understand that without your help we cant do anything. lets fight back for our rights. thank you.

They just called me today for the first time and left voicemails.

Call #1 "Please call Ed Weston, I have some very important business to discuss with you"

Call #2 "You need to call Larry Clemmons immediately. I have important information for you regarding your social security number."

Like everyone else here I'm dealing with this company myself. So far I have filed a complaint with the FTC and the Attnorey Genereals Office In Ohio about the way they treated me and how they would not accept my $50 a month payment. They kept saying to me so you are refusing to pay I keep saying no I can only afford $50. They went as far as telling me that my grandfather had a credit card with enough money on it to pay the debt. Big violation... he wasn't even the cosigner on the loan. He had nothing to do with the loan. They should have never looked up his credit report. And he told my manager that I was being sued. Another Violation. They violate the laws daily. So far on the Ohio Attnorey Generals Website they have 303 complaints against them. And those are only the ones who actually came fowarded. They are doing things the wrong way. I contacted a lawyer about this because I really can't afford to have my wages garnished cause well thats all they can take since I have nothing else. And he said they only make $2.16 an hour plus a percent of what they get out of you. So they will do and say anything to get you to pay. And if they want to garanish your wages they have to take you to court twice.
Anyway I'm actually going to file a chapter 13 just to get it all off my back anyway.
And even if they do garanish your wages you can appeal it saying you can't live (paying bills (heat, gas, ect) and food if they take the money from you.

Hope that helped guys. But if they did violate any laws make sure to file a complaint against them.

I recently worked at this horrible place. National Enterprise Systems is the collection agency from hell. It's the devil's worst nightmare. Employees are trained to collect according to the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act but once on the floor in their respective departments collectors are told to forget everything they learned.

My supervisor, Bryan Howard under the alias of Paul Stevens, regularly provided a second voice to collectors having trouble closing collections. This idiot would identify himself to callers as a federal agent, an NES attorney, etc., anything to try to scare the debtor into paying. He would actually tell debtors and their spouses that a lawsuit had been filed and if the account is not paid by postdated check by a certain time that day a deputy of the court was coming to serve the debtor on his job. I witness this on a daily basis all day long. B. Howard is neither a federal agent, attorney nor any of the other things he claims to be and NES don't sue debtors. All are clear violations of the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.

Debtors are talked to as if they're inhuman. Even when the debtor is not home the person taking the message is treated like dirt. I will never forgot my supervisor shouting at an 81 year old African-American woman for not getting a pen and paper to take the message. "I DON'T CARE IF YOU ARE 81 YEARS OLD HE SCREAMED AT THE WOMAN." I've witness collectors hollering at kids "GO GET YOUR FATHER."

You are not supposed to talk to spouses—in certain states--about their significant others’ debt unless given permission by the spouse to do so. This rule is ignored at NES. In fact when I left training I put the document about the spouse rule on my cubicle wall to reference only to have it snatched and trashed by Bryan Howard who said I wouldn’t need it.

The owners Ernest Pollack, his wife, and two sons: Scott and pie-faced Chris are well aware of what is going on. These people are hands on owners. They constantly walk the call room floors, note the individual collectors and group collection sales and hear all the violations first hand. The more a collector screams at a debtor the more they like it. People actually clap and cheer when a collector goes off on a debtor. All that concerns these greedy money grabbers is how much money they are collecting at any given time.

Payments are demanded in full although they do offer settlements that are too demanded in full. Money orders and mail-in payments are not accepted, only postdated checks over-the-phone or Western Union Transfers for Citi Bank accounts. Some other creditors do allow NES to also take payment by credit card. For the postdated checks debtors are asked to give their accounting and routing numbers. NES, the scumbags they are, attempts to take the money out before the postdate. Nice company huh!

Collectors and supervisors once provided with bank info by the debtor call banks automated customer service numbers to obtain how much money they have in their accounts. We have their social security numbers so getting info this way is like taking candy from a baby. Some banks have safeguards against this and required you talk to a live person. They also work this wickedness on debtors’ credit card accounts or the credit card accounts of the debtors’ spouse, mother, father, etc. I remember one collector on the phone with a debtor saying “Your Mother Has $7,000 On Her Card She Can Use;” She Can Pay This Debt For You!”

If anyone needs someone who's "been there" in any of their legal actions against this despicable company I’m your guy.

I found three weblinks for NES. They are for Cleveland Ohio BBB. They list all the details about NES and their contact information. They also have details on their collection practices and complaints. I hope this helps everyone who needs help dealing with this company. Do a web search for Cleveland BBB where there is a link for NES. Do a web search for NES1 and you will find their webpage.

I have also had dealings with NES. At the beginning of this year "Tony Fox" contacted me and began belittling me about $600 I owed to a credit card company. I told this goof that I was willing to make payments...even though the original debt was less than $200. He began calling me white trash and told me that if I didn't pay I was going to be sued. He even went as far as to say that my court date was Feb. 15th. I again told him that I couldn't pay the entire amount that day. He told me to borrow it from friends or family. When I told him that I would not due that because everyone is in the same situation financially now (prices of gas and home heating oil) he proceeded to tell me that I just confirmed that I come from a long line of disgusting white trash. He started demanding my checking account number and yelling obsceities at me. I was so upset and began to cry. I asked to speak to a manager and he refused. He then said "I'm giving you 10 minutes to make a decision!" and then hung up on me. I quickly did some research on the internet. When he called back he asked if I had my account ready. I told him that I refused to give him any money. I told him I wanted everything in writing sent to my address. He said that letters were sent three times (I NEVER received anything from them). He proceded to call my house and cell phone (don't know how he got that number) CONSTANTLY. So, I played his game. I gave his extention # to my brother and his friends. We all called him several times and left messages on HIS voice mail 24/7. The calls from him and NES shortly stopped and I haven't heard anything from them since Feb. and it is now June!!! I also just had my credit report checked and this debt did not show up on the report at all. Don't take any of their crap!! These people and the company they work for are frauds!!! Do not get upset like I did. If anything give them a taste of their own medicine. This is the only thing that seemed to stop the calls.

Like others, I have been receiving calls from these guys. They have started calling me at work and threatened to call HR to get verification that I work here. Well, duhhhh, if I answer the phone here why would I not work here? I spoke with my payroll and HR dept and told them that this is a scam and not to give out any information. I told them several times not to call me at work and their response was "Like that is going to happen".

My next step is to send them the cease communication. How much more do I need to do to make these guys stop?

It's such a relief hearing this comments. They called me yesterday with all there scams and freaked me out big time. They made me feel like a thief (in fact I was told I committed fraud and was going to be arrested). When I told the rep ("Susan Orchowski) that she was mean, she said she was going to sue me for defamation of character. After reading all the comments and suggestions, I feel better that what they are doing is illegal and what they are doing is not legal. I hope someone starts up a class action lawsuit against them. They would loose big time. I am going to file a complaint with the Ohio and Michigan Attorney Generals. No one deserves the treatment they are dishing out. Good luck to all the others out there that are dealing with them.

I just got a call today about a 4,000 debt for student loans. They said that they would settle for alittle over 3,000 but I had to do it by phone. There is no way I could get that kind of money. I am raising two kids by myself and can't work. They asked if anyone could help me and then they called my mom and told her to give her account information or put it on a credit card and then make payments every month. They tell other people that they can't do payments. They threated to sue me, but thats not going to do any good if I still don't have the money. lol. If they want payments then they should set up payments. The economy is bad right now and people are already struggling we really don't need this kind of harrasment.
