Thanks Tammy! A friend of mine is dealing with some eye opening experience and she got a VERY threatening phone call from this company. Thankfully I have not had to deal with collection agencies treating me this way - but I know where to go to get info (this is the BEST forum ever!). My friend thanks you too.

Ugh - that doesn't sound good for her. They called my friend damanding settled payment in full NEXT WEEK. She said she could pay more than the settled payment if they would wait until the middle of June, but they didn't budge. I honestly think they are yanking her chain... but she's freaking out. I don't blame her - I had a medical bill company call me wanting payment in full for about a month and a half. FINALLY they worked the payment into $100 a month for 2.5 years... MUCH more manageable than $3000 all at once. Sheesh.

i've been dealing w/ them resurgent peoople myself. a bunch of mean people they lie saying i agreed to a different person that i'd actually see about getting a loan to pay off these medical bills. and i absolutely refused to do so. they say my 50. a month is not good enuf. well guess what tough. that's all there getting. and i believe there's nothing more they can do since i am attempting to pay something. maybe next month i should only send 5. and see how they like that. i'd love to just to prove a point. but i probably won't i'll chicken out. any other advice on what to do w/ these wonderful people.

I've heard that many times before - as long as you send SOMETHING, ANYTHING they can't do anything. My uncle works for a collection company and he assured me that that is not true. A medical bill company can set a minimum and if they aren't getting it they can go to collections just like a credit card company. Some of my medical bills required a heft minimum, but many of mine were fine with what I could pay in the mean time as long as it was something every month. I hate jipping the medical bills because those are for doctors who provided a service and the ones I have are nice enough that they don't charge interest. Credit Card companies charge a hefty interest and make a TON of money off unsuspecting college students - I'm less sympathetic towards them

Ehwen-have your friend do a DV letter BEFORE she sends any money. Yeah, they started in Jan. wanting and threatening for the balance in full, wouldn't take payments. Now hee it is May and the jerks could have been gettin payments instead of nothing all these months.all CA will threaten and want balance in full, plus being harassing. Do the DV letter and see where that goes, make sure they haven't jacked up the balance.etc. Also be sure and have her put a don't contact in her letter, that way all will be done by mail instead of at her work. Good Luck ...Karen

What you need to do is send a Certified Letter that states to the company in question to CEASE AND DESIST ALL COMMUNICATIONS. If they are still harrassing you file a complaint w/the FTC. Federal Trade Commission> www.ftc.gov / The FTC is in charge of monitoring all debt collectors to make sure we are not abusing the debtors. I.E. saying we will sue you when we wont, garnish you etc. Also see the fdcpa= Fair Debt Collection Practices Act> this lists you rights and what we can't say or do to you.

I am ealing with this company. They called me early in the AM hours. I mean 5:45am AZ time. Yes they man threated me to pay now or they were going to seek other ways. I explain to him that I was in a hardship he replied you owe, $111,000. I can not pay you won't work with me and I can not pay the $200.00 a month anymore. I was paying them this amount, well I was without a job for 2 month due to the new baby. I had called them a day ago to cancel all auto-payments from by checking account. Anyway it is good to know I am not a lone.
