I have numerous payday loans out for quite a few months. How much is enough? When are they going to stop taking my money?

Hey! You are in the right place! First of all, please answer the following questions so that we can assist you..
What state are you in?
What companies did you borrow from?
How much did you borrow from each company?
How much have you paid back to each company in "fees"?

Payday loans are prohibited in your state and therefore these two companies should not have lended to you at all. Based on what you have borrowed and what you have paid, you have fulfilled your moral obligation to these two companies so now here are the things you need to do:

1- these companies have no scrupouls so in order to get your finances back without them screwing up your bank account...I would recommend closing your old one and opening a new one. Otherwise these companies will just continue to suck you dry(I myself owe my bank 1600 from these leeches)
2-you need to get the contact information on both companies(someone here can probably help you with that) and send them letters, emails and faxes citing the laws in NY, stating how much you have paid versus how much you borrowd and demanding they mark your account paid in full. Also in this letter revoke their authorization to debit your account and any voluntary wage assignemnt clause you may have agreed to when getting the loan
3-file complaints with your attorney general on these companies
4-Be prepared to be harrassed but be persistant and eventaully this will work out.

Adding to what Leah said - When you close the bank account be sure to ask your bank what their policy is on ach transactions going through on closed accounts. Some banks policies are such that they will "force" open the closed account and allow the transaction to go through. If your bank does do something like this, ask them to put the account on deposit only before they close it, or put an ach block on it. Explain the situation to them and tell them that these companies have a history of continuing to debit consumers accounts after authorization has been revoked. You may want to take the letters you've written to the pdl's revoking the authorization with you in case you need to show them to the bank. And don't take no for an answer. Some bankers don't know what the bank can really do, and will say that they can't put a block on the account.

And be sure to file complaints with your attorney general's office. Elliot Spitzer has sued quite a few payday loan companies for operating in NY . . . You state seems to be really acting to stop these lenders.
