If your state law permits it.

In IL at least, once a judgment creditor has a judgment then they can fill out what's called a "Memorandum of Judgment". Judge puts his stamp on it certifying it is accurate, and then creditor would pay $26 to file the Memo of Judgment with the County Recorder. After that, it would be recorded as a lien on any real estate you own in that county.

If they have a judgement and a lien, then you need to pay off the judgement. That will remove the lien.
