You can check the licensee database on this website to see if they are licensed or not. Since they are an ipdl, chances are they are probably not. Also, check if there is another name on your contract different than usapaydayloan because a lot of these companies operate under different names.
The website is: http://www.paydayloaninfo.org/

Albuquerque
NM
License Type: Small Loan Company
License No.: 01435
Issued: 4/12/2005
Expires: 6/30/2008

So does this mean I am screwed on this one? They are licensed in NM and NM law basically allows them to charge whatever they want. I live in TN, BTW.

Oh, from the above post I thought YOU lived in NM, since you asked about payday loan laws in NM. If you live in TN, they have to abide by TN laws. It doesn't matter if they are matter in NM; they have to be licensed in TN as well. I will post TN laws shortly.

Many pdl's will tell you that because they are licensed in THEIR state, it doesn't matter if they are licensed in yours or not, but don't believe them...pdls says this all the time to make you pay more money. If they are not licensed in your state, then they are ILLEGAL in your state. How much have you paid on this loan and what was the original amount?
