If this is your first time settling accounts, be sure you stay in CONSTANT contact w/ them - the last thing you need is garnishments, liens, judgments, etc; at that point the settlement route is useless - this is the advantage of settlement companies. You'll need at least 12K-15K to settle all your accounts - that's a good rule of thumb. If you do look for companies check out Superior, RAM Financial Services, and Rise Above Debt. Most will drop their fees and most should have holiday specials - it really isn't that much for peace of mind. RAM (in Phoenix, AZ) I believe even offers a free ebook on their website for a DIY kit on settling debt. Don't forget stay on top of your creditors because they can jump to a collection company in as fast as a month.

Check out www.CalltheRam.com - they have a free guide on how to settle debts yourself. Good luck! Plus I believe they'll help answer any questions you have in order to settle on your own.

Here are your options. If you're in a negative surplus each month, seek the help of debt settlement. Companies I recommend: Freedom Debt Relief, RAM Financial Services, Rise Above Debt. If you are in the positive, then check out a debt management program. In the end you have to do what is right for you - if credit is every a worry, remember credit is resilient and does bounce back. Good luck!
