A couple of you have asked if my payday loans are storefront or internet. Is one easier to deal with than the other? Five of mine are storefront and one is internet. Any suggestions on how to deal with them? Do I just walk in and say I can't pay, will you set up a payment plan with me? I am so desperate to get this on the road to resolution.

OK, so this statement below has me worried. Am I in real trouble now because I have more than 600.00 in loans out in ND? I did not know about this or I failed to understand this.

Maximum Number of Outstanding Loans at One Time: Not Specified ($600 aggregate loans outstanding to all licensees)
I think you misunderstand the purpose of the law. If the provision does indeed mean that a borrower is permitted up to $600 maximum at a time, you did not violate the law, the lenders would have. You're in financial trouble, but you already knew that, they potentially could face legal trouble. Make sure you file a complaint against any company that violates the law.

The difference between storefront and internet is large. Storefront PDLs are frequently backed by a bank, and may have some legislation that permits their usurious activities. Internet PDLs are often unlicensed, and fail to follow laws in the states they lend within. I don't think it would hurt to try to work out payment arrangements with the storefronts, but I can't offer any real opinion on how successful you will be.

I am going to call the stores and the one internet one I have on Monday. You would thinkk these places would want to work it out so they get their money back. Does anyone know what the collection process is. I heard some places manage their own collections others send them out to collections agencies? Does anyone know is it easier to work with the company or a collection agencey? Or do they skip collections and file a judgement? Thank you again everyone.

One more ? Does anyone have any good resources on manageging money? I very obsiously cannot manage my $ and want to work hard on getting my finacial life under control. Things like budgeting, etc. I don't shop, drink, gambling or eat my money but I continue to struggle making ends meet every month. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Maybe this ? belongs in a different forum. First I have to get my payday loans paid off before I can ever even have any money to manage!!!

Well, as soon as you get the PDL's taken care of, you should have a bit more money in your wallet.

And I don't eat my money either, but I'm still pretty broke too. There's only so much you can trim from your budget...at some point, I just realized I simply wasn't making enough money.

If you register, you'd have access to the PM function of this site. As an added bonus, you'd earn a little bit from each post you make. You can do the community signup if you don't want the credit counseling call.

If your debt is relatively small, I'd think they'd prefer to not go to court, as they have to pay up front for the court costs.

It would be cheaper for you to do it yourself, you just have to have a plan and stick to it. No sense in having someone else do it for you and pay for it.

As far as the payday loans, since you have already dealt with advance america, tell them about the other companies and see what they have to say. Sometimes you will get the more of the truth straight from the horses mouth. I know the advance america here was easy to deal with and the manager has been in the financial business for a long time. He doesn't care to work with payday loans, but a job is a job. Anyway, he was a great help with another issue that I was having with an old credit card debt. He knew alot about the law and what they are likely to do. The one in your area, may be able to tell you what the other storefronts would be like to deal with. They tend to know each others habits. It don't hurt to ask. Just a thought.

My company does work with payday loan companies. I would be glad to help you get back on your feet if I can.

I have found that with most payday loan companies, their willingness to work with you seems to increase over time.

Do not misunderstand me...I am not saying that you do not need to pay them, please, continue as you were but I think that I can get them to settle the amounts owed and due.

If you are interested, please contact me: email address removed per forum rules-jessi In your email state you spoke with me.

I believe I can get most of the fee's waived for you too.

I have now registered. (aka.scared) Tomorrow I am going to call all the payday loan companies and see if they will settle for a payment arrangement. I have four that are 500.00 (600.00 with the fee) one that is 480 and one that is 360. Do you think offering 50.00 a month is to little. My thought is if I can pay the two smaller ones off once I get that balance down a little I can apply more to the bigger ones?

I also am wondering if anyone knows of any debt settlement programs or debt consolodation companies that deal with payday loans. I have tried several and have been told they don't deal with them because the payday loan companies won't work with them.

Should I ask the payday loan companies when I call tomorrow if they will work with a debt counseling companey?

Thank you all again for your advice and support.
