Has your account been turned over to a collection agency? Could you please give us some more details?

Ok, more info...Rio Resources is licensed in New Mexico, agent name is Rio Grande Trust, agent to Rio Grande Trust is a person with a Santa Fe NM address. I did not think I could put his name on the website. It shows the principal address of Rio Resources as The Canary Islands. THE REASON THAT IT SHOWS AS THE CANARY ISLANDS IS Rio Grande Trust has a business form on the internet for people to get a New Mexico Limited Liability License. One of the options on the form is to have your principal place of business as the CANARY ISLANDS. So people send them a money order or check to go in and file for a business license!! AH HAH!! Wonder if the State of New Mexico would be interested in finding this out! I might just give them a call. This is getting VERY interesting.

Okay, I have been following this and how can Rio be in Oklahoma and the Canary Islands? They are as bad as Sonic in regards to so many addresses. Guess they are trying to keep the feds off their trails.

They are not in the Canary Islands. That is a bogus address that they use on their license. I think it will be much easier to find all of their REAL locations now that we know where the out of state addresses come from.

so chizhy, does this all mean that the letters you and I received are legit and we are okay with the null and void of our loans. I am a little confused with all these different responses.

I would say we are ok! If they aren't on the Rez then the state laws apply.

Mishele,
My hubby and I got quite a few IPDL's and we both got laid off for a couple months and our bank closed our checking account so all the payments went back account closed/nsf. I have worked out agreements with some of the companies and have paid them off. But we still have some left to work with like MTE/tendollarpayday,Loanshop, Cashtoday,500Fast cash, one click cash. I had a place call me and 2 of these loans went to a CA and they told me they would take a settlement of 1001.00 and that would take care of the 2. The original amount was 1320.00. both of these were 200.00 loans. I live in WI and our laws here suck. I was supposed to call Mr. Bobby West back on Feb. 1st. with payment arrangements. He was really nice though he didn't threaten me at all but I don't think I owe them that much. So I know I have to call back and get a name of the company and addy so I can send a letter to them. I did talk to my states AG and she asked if I went looking for these loans I said no I just answered e-mails (was desperate for cash )that were sent to me and she told me that if they do that then they have to be licensed in the state and if they are not then they are illegal. She is going to get back to me. So thanks to this site I am not scared to answer my phone anymore

puddlejmpr,

I'm not too familiar with Wisconsin laws but I can read up on them after bit. I have all state laws printed out and in a folder. Are you dealing with any storefront lenders in your area? Those are the ones that you will want to take care of first. How much have you paid on your internet ones? Feel free to pm me with more details. I will be happy to help you.

I have no position with them. I am asking a general question. I am asking if you had a loan with them or have been in the payday loan trap yourself.
