Weezer....I am sorry you are an employee of pdl's. And sorry all of my experiences have been negative too so I do not support them. I am not an irresponsible person either. I have tried to tell them I want to pay and not roll over the fees and have tried and tried and they say oh I did not get the fax that you wanted to do that. Which is complete CRAP because I know they got it. They just keep lying and taking your money. Pdl's need to be stopped and I am glad that Ohio is doing something about it. I will say the only downside to it is that 6000 people that will lose the job but believe me there are plenty of jobs out there for them to go too.

I received a response via email from a person who is affiliated with the site sending emails against the new lending law. As I said before, I sent one from that site supporting the new bill. Well, I received a very nasty response from an unknown person, guess I got busted. Oh well.

Hey hey, I don't care. Smile I also sent another email to the state senate and gave them this website address. If anyone else would like to write in support of this bill, here is the email address:

Shazz. . you are like me. I have written to State Senators in New York and I always forward them info on PDLs that I find here and there. I really don't care how nasty people get, I just keep on sending em'! I think I might just have to send an email as well.

PostPosted: Sat May 10, 2008 8:06 am Subject: What am I reading?

I have only read the posts on this page but I think this is crazy! I am a Manager of a Payday Lender and can not understand why people are so stupid. First off no one makes ANYONE go to a PDL, it is YOUR choice. If your a responsible adult and know how to make a responsible decision there should never be a problem. Not only do I work for the industry I use them! I have a loan out right now because I came close to overdrawing my account because my dog had to go to the vet. I got a $100 loan to save me from paying $35 in overdraft fees and $5 bucks a day till I get my next check. Now, I could have gotten a loan for $700 but no, I got what I needed. Guess what, I budgeted it out of my next pay so that when I pay it back, it's done. When my customers come through the door I don't make them take the full amount, that is their choice. Kind of like someone having a bottle of pain pills, there are some that will take just what they need and others will take more for the satisfaction. Should we close down the pharmacy's because some people can't use drugs responsibly? You don't have to use it if you don't want to, but this is America and we should have the right to use this product if we chose to do so. I am all for reform but this product came to life because there IS a need for it. Has anyone taken a look at what has happen in the states where the got rid of PDL?? Forecloser. bankruptcies and bank charges hit the roof and put thousands of people out of jobs. So you don't mind paying every ones bills that's going to be out of job when they close us down?? Your going to with your taxes. So thanks in advance!!!!

Hello sickofthis, I can understand your point of view, however, would you mind posting where you found information [facts, not speculations] stating that the foreclosures and bankruptcies in this country have increased due to pdl companies shutting down? Thanks.

I too can understand your point, but I really don't think that NOT having PDLs is the reason for the rampant rash of bankruptcies, foreclosures, etc. I, personally, blame the administation in this country for that. With that said let me add this. I don't think any one on this board went into the PDL situation with the intention of shutting them down, or not paying them. The PDLs themselves are the ones who will eventually be the downfall of the business for the way they operate their organization. Most are illegal, soliciting business across state lines and in many states that have clearly prohibited them. Once the money is deposited into a bank account and they have access to that info, it doesn't matter what you say. We are told, you contacted us too late to pay in full, we didn't receive your email and in my case, even chaning the terms from monthly to biweekly without a word on it before Each and every one of us on this board is probably at risk on a daily business of losing a job. With the economy the way it is no one is safe from unemployment. If you are concerned that it might happen, and I would ask why you think that, perhaps you should implement a contingency plan before it does happen. If the PDL business was above board and honest there would be no problem. Fear of something happening sends up red flags to me. As more and more people are becoming educated on the perils of PDLs I suppose losing one's job could be a reality. Let me ask a question. Do you have any facts on how many people that have been involved with PDLs have had to file bankruptcy or lost their home as a result of them? Because of them we fall behind on legitimate debts. It's a vicious cycle and once you are in it's a long journey to get out. And that is exactly what the PDLs bank on when they "invite" you into their web. Sorry, as for me, I have no sympathy for the PDL industry.

Shazz. . thank you. Yes, we all went it to this on our own but we went in with "blinders" on. Once those blinders were removed we were in so deep that we couldn't see straight. I don't know about you but I have learned a very valuable and costly lesson. If I don't have the funds when a bill comes due, they will wait. I would rather deal with legitimate bill collectors any day than go through this again.

I do not feel sorry for the Pdls either. People losing jobs is not a good thing; however, why would you want to work for an employer that created all of these problems. I for one stand by what we do at my work and am proud of it. I would never be proud to say that I worked for a pdl not after everything I have found out. There are plenty of jobs out there. Heck you can work at walmart, target, fast food and probably make just as much!
