I need help! I have paid THOUSANDS of dollars in interest on several pdl's..how do i settle them now?
I live in California and they are all internet loans.
I just put a hold on my bank account. Now what?

The account will have to default. Be expecting the pdl collectors to call and be extremely nasty and rude to you. Don`t let them scare you. Just let them know you are having financial difficulties and you do want to repay them but you just don`t have the money right now. Once you have some sort of lump sum saved" say for example 30%-50% of the balance" contact them and see if they will accept it. They will most likely decline it at first and counter offer something higher but in the end with enough haggling you will work something out with them. Be sure they send you in writing the settlement offer. If its not in writing its not a deal.
Hang in there. You will get through this hard time.

thanks so much. What about the ones that I have paid thousands to? Will they send me a refund, or should I tell them that I paid them enough? Should I call them, or wait for them to call me?

Welcome! Could list the PDLs you have, how much you borrowed and how much you have paid to date? I see you live in California and they are all internet loans. Someone who is more knowledgeable in interpreting the laws of California regarding PDLs should be along shortly to help you with that aspect of trying to get PDL free. In the meantime, if you could list the info above it will be a start. Chin up. Things will get better.
