What If Your Bank is Uncooperative

I have read so many stories about people trying to put hard holds on their bank account and the bank saying they cannot do that and blah blah blah. I need to close my account and I am afraid if I am honest with them they will not help me. I am dealing with BofA. I am thinking about not being honest as to why I want to close my account and making up a story. (I dont know what that will be yet lol) Does anyone have any suggestions for me? I need to close the account before 10/17

is your account currently positive or negative?most if not all banks can't domuch once the account goes negaive.if your account is positive and no debits are pending within the next 7 days you should have no problem closing your account.i wouldn't worry about how BofA feels, but if you have a good relationship with your local branch be honest about it.i'm sure they have dealt with this type of situation before.

Right now my account is positive with a zero balance and nothing pending. I am going to walk in there today and tell them I want to close my account.

kfstaff24 you will need to go directly to the Branch Manager and tell them you want your account closed due to some illegal activity, heck, tell them this is a case of stolen identity and you are only protecting your interest! If they won't close it, then tell them you MUST have a hard debit block on it until all transactions are processed, then close it.

I am going to tell them that my check book and debit cards were lost or stolen and I need the account closed immediately. I am doing this today and I will keep you posted. I will also tell them I do not want the account re-opened under any circumstances to protect my interests.

Thanks
Karin
