I had submitted to the DFI an update on AIP sending me a refund and asked if I had to submit a new complaint in regards to World Wide Cash for a refund.

Well, the gist of the email for the laws of WI stated since WWC didn't directly solicit me for the loan, as they had found my information through a "lead" generation source, the DFI doesn't have juridisdiction to demand WWC to refund my money.

So I just have to continue the fight on my own. I've resubmitted my complaint with the FTC and BBB, though. I sent a letter to my AG's office, but I got a postcard in the mail stating that the DFI would handle it. Well, at least they marked my account PIF

Oh and guys, this is the best part of WWC's response to the DFI in their closing statement:

"To the extent that WWC may have the right to charge her account for amounts borrowed, all such charges will be stopped, and xxxxx's account will be deemed closed and satisfied as of this date.

Although it is a matter of coincidence and not in response to your letter, WWC is in the process of winding down its operations."

Does that mean these crooks are getting shut down finally?!

"Winding down their operations"? That sounds like they're "going out of business". Would't that be wonderful! Maybe they'll start marking people PIF to be rid of accounts and go under! Oh, joyous day!

Hope it means they are more willing to give me money! The date of the letter from the DFI was 7/19/07 and I sent my email to WWC about the refund on 7/13/07. Haven't heard anything back yet, so I emailed them again today.

joshua, keep emailing them! Maybe they'll want to get you "off their list" and give you your refund! We can cross our fingers! Don't lay off of them though. If their operations MIGHT be shutting down, get them while you're still able.

That is a pretty casual statement, "winding down their operations," but I would take that as they are shutting down.

I am still curious why they would put something like that in their response to the DFI though...if it is as they say, unrelated and a coincidence. I am hoping to get at least $500 back from these guys on just my first over paid loan, not the other 2 two.

joshua, you overpaid them by $500? Oh my! Please keep pressing them via email. They may refund you since you've filed with the DFI and they now know that.

I got the email from customer service this morning, and it doesn't look like a refund is coming. She stated that the solicitors had sent a response to the DFI and I should be receiving it soon. So, that is probably why the letter was dated 7/19/07 about a week after my request for a refund. Well, at least I have in writing that they considered my defaulted loan pif and I have the documentation for it now.

Maybe it doesn't sound like it, but maybe (just maybe?) the response will include something about a refund. I mean, you paid these people an awful lot of money over what was legally owed. I'm going to at least keep my fingers crossed the response had good news in it. Please keep us posted regarding it!

I did a search for World Wide Cash Now and came up with this helpful thread. I did want to ask if anyone had any recent experience with them and how successful they have been getting them to stop debiting. Also, are they operating legal for residents in Texas?

The original poster mentioned sending a letter to the DFI. What excatly is the DFI?

Thanks!

The DFI stands for Department of Financial Institutions. It is the governing body that regulates banks and lending places, etc. in Wisconsin. Depending on where you live, you may have something similar to that or you may contact the Attorney General's office too.
