Sub: #1 Attorney General Complaints- Iowa

I spoke with someone at the Iowa Attorney General's office today. After explaining my situation to her, she asked me to file an official complaint on their website. She mentioned this will be public record.

Does anyone know if this is published anywhere (newpapers) or just online? I am sure you can understand that I am embarrassed at what has escalated into the biggest pain in my life at this time. I do not want my name connected to this situation publicly. However, I do want to get this resolved and hopefully help someone else from making the same mistakes I have.

Thanks for everyones help! You are all so helpful!

Yes, I have also heard that, filing a complaint with FTC and State AG's office against a collection agency is very much effective to get rid of their harassment.

I think what she meant is - it's only public record if someone happens to go to the FTC site and search for your name, but I'm not possitive about that. If I were you, I would call back and ask them to explain further.

It won't be published as in the papers.

As Shazzers said if someone should want to research the company and went to the AG website to search for complaints then they would find your complaint about them.

Even a straight up google search for your name would not get them to the complaint.
