if you just faxed that yesterday, i would say that it is too soon, but you should keep a record of everything you did for the next pay period.

YOU SHOULD HAVE CLOSED IT BEFORE YOU SENT THEM LETTERS

cam, I have to agree with "guest". Your bank account should have been taken care of BEFORE sending them any letters. The pdls will be all over your bank account now that they know you're trying to "pull out" of the agreements. Go to the bank, see if you can get a hard debit block on it immediately. It's more than likely too late to actually close it since the pdl debits will already be pending. It might even be too late to put the block on it and prevent them from hitting today. Go to the bank now. See what you can do.

you need to tell them what is happening, be honest with them, and also can you freeze your acct, that way they wont be able to do anything for sure with or to it,JMO

They won't close an account that has a negative balance. You'll have to put a hard debit block/hard hold/freeze on it. Make sure NOTHING can go through. No ACH debits, no electronic checks, no nothing.

And don't forget, your account could very well be FORCED back open if new debits come through. My bank told me that for 30 days after I close my account they have the right to force it back open. This assuming that you are able to get your account closed in the first place.

sorry new to this, what is a hard block on a checking account? Does this block all debits and automatic payments as well?

tam, don't be sorry! A hard debit block will prevent ANYTHING from going through. You can still have credits put in the account; however, no debits. Nothing. If it's a hard debit block, then no checks, no ACH debits, no ATM card, no nothing.
