Almost two years ago I made the mistake of taking out payday loans. After having several thousand dollars taken out of my account, I began researching and found this site. Using this site I was able to come to terms with 4 of 7 of the pdl. Of the three left, only one still bothers me, Pack Management/Bahama Management. I have sent DV and Cease/Desist emails to , letters Pack Management/Bahama Managementto FTC and my AG. But Pack Management/Bahama Management still calls and leaves no message. Today at work I got a call from Morton/Jackson LOC or LCCthat I was going to be charged with check fraud. They claim they are sending out a couier to serve me however my county circuit record has no record.
My understanding is that they are not legal and I only owe the balance of what I owe. I did try to settle way back when I took out the loan but they refused to talk to me.
My understanding is that they are not legal in Florida and I only owe the balance of what I owe.I also understand that even if they did pull me into court I can easily win since they have no juristition
Am I right?
If I am right what steps should I take to keep them from calling at work
.Thanks

Best course of action is to let them know ONCE that you are aware of the following things:
[LIST=1]
Then don't talk to them again. You can send a reminder email to the actual creditor again if you like. Let them know that, although your contract is void due to the illegality of the loan, you are still willing to repay the principal balance.
If they continue to ignore you, don't worry about it.
The trick with the CAs (or the OP posing as a CA) is to tell them once you know they're full of it and then don't talk to them again. Continuing to pick up the phone only gives them a reason to continue to call.

The problem is that I am at work. They call the main office and then I am called down to talk to them. I'm not sure how to deal with it at work, but they need to stop.
Thoughts ?

Not sure about that one.
Does your switchboard have caller ID? You could file a police report and give a copy to your employer so that they're aware you're being harrassed. Can you talk to the receptionist and let him/her know that when those calls are received to just hang up?

I would suggest calling the police on them because they are breaking the law with the threats of check fraud. Also file complaints against both the original lender and the so called collection company with the Florida Office of Financial regulation. The AG will send you a nice form letter but the FOFR will go after both the lender and the collections firms for trying to collect on an illegal debt. I would also inform these morons when they call again that you have filed the complaints and that each time they call you will add that to the complaint. These are the things I have done to get them to stop calling me I hope it helps.
