I just received another email from westbury. This time they are telling me they have turned me over to a check place that can track down any banking account I have with my SS#. Can they do that?

This is absolutely illegal. Show the email to your state attorney general. It should bring up some legal actions against them.

I can't wait until the day they shut these slimebuckets down for good. I am so tired of hearing about the illegal crap they do. Everyone who has ever dealt with them should file complaints with the FTC and attorney General in whatever state that harbors these criminals until they get so tired of complaints they go after these low life thugs and slam them with millions in fines and jail time. They are the worst I have heard of on this site.

I have read somewhere on this post that's happened to some people. Follow the advice from onelamb. Turn them into your ag's office. A lady at my legal aide office said they cannot legally do that. But in order for them to try they would need your routing and account numbers. If you haven't closed your account you should really consider doing that and then working out repayment to them on your terms if you owe them any money.

i closed my account that they were withdrawing from & opened a new account a couple of weeks ago. I've paid them $500 more that what I originally owed. I'm just worried they can track down my new account. I just filed compaints with the BBB, FTC, & AG.

tl, your new account is more than likely safe. They say things to scare people. You've already over paid these people. Don't let them scare you. Just post whenever they send you ugly emails and get opinions from the forum members. Many have already been through it. And, you're doing good, file those complaints. And ignore thier emails. They actually don't deserve a response. Illegal threats.

Good news--if you will contact the AG's office in the state they are located and make a complaint, you will find that they are not licensed to do business. I got an official letter from that individual!
