Has anyone dealt with these people? These are both store fronts that I defaulted on back on 7/15. I called Check Exchange and was told that they could only break it up into three payments. I told her that I couldn’t really afford that, but that I would be in on my next payday (8/1) to make a payment. I get there and see tells me that they attempted to send an ACH debit in on my account and asked me if it would clear and I told her no (luckily I have an ACH block on my account in preparation for closing it). I had called and spoken with this woman less than two weeks ago and told her I didn’t/wouldn’t have the money and had a verbal agreement on payment arrangements and they sent through the ACH any way. I made the payment, but I don’t think I will be able to make the next two..
And now on to Cashland…. I called the store and was told that returned checks are automatically sent over to corporate collections. I was given the 800 number and told to call them. So I got off the phone with them and called the corporate collections department. I navigated through their menu ultimately entering in my SSN and being directed to the voicemail box of a specific employee. I explained my situation and left my cell phone number for her to call me back. Well by the end of the day this employee had called my employer, my references and my home but not my cell phone… Over the course of the next 2 weeks I attempt to call her a couple of times a day always resulting in me leaving her yet another voicemail and see continues calling my employer and my home leaving me messages. Well on 8/1 I manage to finally get through to her and explain my situation. She tells me that she needs the full balance paid in full by 8/30. I ask her if there is anyway we can make some other sort of payment arrangements and see tells me no. So I tell her that I will see what I can do and get off the phone with her. I get online to check my old checking account that I had cleaned out of all but $10 in preparation to close it this week and now it is -$525! It turns out that Cashland had sent their checks back through as well (Cashland is one of the places that makes you spilt it up into two checks). One of the checks cleared. So now I have the amount from the 1st check, an overdraft fee and a NSF fee.
Has anyone else defaulted with either Cashland or Check Exchange and had any success setting up reasonable payment arrangements?
