Hello I am looking for help getting out from under the multiple PDLs I have. Everything just kind of spiraled out of control and before I knew it I had more than I cared to think about. And now trying to keep track of them and make sure they don't kill my checking account is pushing me over the edge..
CashLand (storefront) $800 loan $112.50 Fee
CheckSmart (storefront) $800 loan $112.50 Fee
Advance America (Storefront) $500 loan $75 Fee
Check Exchange (Storefront) $700 loan $100 Fee
Check N Go (online) $800 loan $112.50 Fee
My Cash Now (online) $520 loan $72.62 Fee
If anyone can help I would really appreciate it...

Hello and welcome! Have you paid anything toward the principal of these loans? The three store fronts are members of the CSFA, which means you will be able to evoke the EPP (Extended payment plan) IF you go into the stores BEFORE the due date and ask for it. What this means is, you will be able to pay them back in four equal installments beginning on your next payday. You will really need to make arrangements with the store fronts because they WILL try to deposit all your checks, which is going to end up costing you a small portion in overdraft fees. The Internet loans, I am not sure if they are licensed in the state of Ohio, I would need to look them up in the Ohio data base. I will post Ohio pdl laws shortly.

Thanks for the welcome... I have been in this mess for so long, I don't know why I just now decided to look for help..
"Have you paid anything toward the principal of these loans?"
I am not sure what you mean by this.. On all of these loans with the exception of the one with mycash now I have been paying them off and having to turn around and take them right back out. The loan with mycashnow I have been doing and extension in which they charge me an extension fee and on top of the regualr finance fee..

Well, if those Internet loans aren't licensed in Ohio as I suspect they aren't (can someone else verify this?), and you have paid them more than you originally borrowed, consider them paid in full. You need to file a complaint with the Attorney General, the FTC and the BBB, they need to be aware that these companies are lending money illegally to Ohio residents. I can give you a sample of a letter to email to these Internet companies. But you also need to include the amount THEY owe you, because all you are obligated to pay them is the principal amount you borrowed. What I mean is, if you borrowed $800.00 from Check n Go, then all they should get from you is $800.00, no fees, no interest, nothing but the $800.00, which is the principal amount you borrowed to begin with. Does this make any sense?
Although I couldn't find a license in the Ohio data base for either of your online payday lenders, I'm still not quite certain if they are legal or not. One sure way to find out is to call the Dept Of Financing and ask them, they are very nice about answering questions, here is the number> (614) 728-8400.

Here is a copy of a letter you can send. Just tailor it to your needs, and add the amount of refund you are due. If you have already paid them, take out that part.
| Quote: | Name
Address
City, State
Account #
Date
Company Name
Address
City, State
To Whom It May Concern:
It has been brought to my attention that your company is not licensed to lend in my state, therefore making the contract I had with you null and void. I will agree to pay the principal amount of the loan, however, I will need a physical address to send payments in the form of money orders. These are my terms, if you are not willing to accept my terms, then you will not receive any payments.
You are hereby notified that I am revoking ANY and ALL ACH transactions made by your company on any of my personal accounts. If you make any attempts to do so, I will be forced to take legal action against your company. I am also revoking any and all wage assignments I may or may not have signed with your company, my employer has been notified about this matter.
As of today ________, the only contact you may make with me is either through email, or USPS. I also demand your company and any affiliates of your company cease and desist all contact with me (except what is stated above), my employer, or any references I have listed on my account.
Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
Sincerely, |

slmbmax, I'm from Ohio too, and I have been dealing with Checksmart for a while now...I've not dealt with the others you have listed, but I can this, Checksmart is the worst if you default, I would try your hardest to get a EPP with them, stick to it and do it as quickly as you can. I only say this to save you from going through what I am dealing with. I too was in a mess for a long time, it has left us broke, owing the bank for major overdrafts and all our credit cards are in the toliet..We entered a debt management plan just in the last few weeks, it will get better, but please know many of us on the board completley understand your sitatuion, you can do this, the folks here are very helpful and knowledeable, they won't lead you wrong..Good Luck, Reny

I cannot tell you how helpful everyone here is, especially Kitty Legs, I mean, Shazzers. I'm in Ohio too and when one of the storefronts I paid back said I couldn't borrow anymore, I knew I was going to be in big trouble. I contacted Town and Country, which I learned about from here, and so far so good. There are a lot of good ideas here. We are all going through the same thing. We got your back!

Okay, I did some research and it looks like checkngo.com is probably licensed to lend in Ohio. In the Ohio license database they are listed under GREAT LAKES SPECIALTY FINANCE, INC. dba Check 'n Go. There are a lot of licenses listed; it looks like for their store front locations... But mycashnow.com on the other hand I have not been able to find anything on them yet..

Check and go is an installment loan and don't have to follow PDL's law for Ohio.

Check 'n Go's Ohio stores operate under license numbers CC700416 and CL750310.
Thier online site gives both payday loans and installment loans. I clicked on the apply now to see if both were offered in Ohio, and it looks like they are. The 2 license numbers above are for payday lending, as Ohio requires a lender to have 2 licenses, one for check cashing, and one for lending.
