first use any info you have(number that comes up on caller,or the number you call)and file a police report.to threaten you like that needs to be reported asap.then ignore futher calls.do not talk to this witch again.i say this again because you are entitled to at least a basic letter of collection, and anybody that threatens like she does is not legit and can't do what she threatens.i will ask does she gove a name of the place,or can you provide the number you use to call.just want to confirm their bottomfeeder status.

First, calm down. Getting called by a debt collector sucks and can be embarassing but it's not the end of the world.

Second, you say you don't remember taking out a pdl in 2007. Do you not remember because you had a lot of pdls or did you just not take one out?

Third, take a look at your credit report to see if there are any new collection accounts or anything on there that you don't recognize or that shouldn't be there.

Fouth, they said that you had a pending court date. That is easy enough to verify. This would be a civil matter so contact the court(s) in your area where such things take place and see if you have a pending court date (I'm guessing you don't).

From the information in your post, I'm guessing that this is either just a straight up scam or someone trying to collect on an illegal pdl. Although collection agents can be rude, if they are legitimate, they will always tell you their name, the name of their company and the name of the company who turned your account over for collection. If you do find out the name of the company you definitely need to report them to the FTC. I hope this helps, others on the board may have additional info/advice.
