I live in Kentucky, and I have 3 pdls outstanding at this point. 2 of them are with Checksmart, one in KY and the other in OH. The 3rd one is with netcashusa or cashnetusa and the principle on that one is $250 and I havent paid anything on it yet. I am trying to get them all taken care of and never do it again because I cant keep going with most of my paychecks each month eaten up by the fees on what I consider to be one of the stupidest moves I have ever made. I am going to be closing my bank account with Fifth Third, I already have a new checking account opened so I dont have to rush to do that but I was considering just letting the checks hit Fifth Third and then just paying Fifth Third off as fast as I can. The only issue I may have is getting my Direct Deposit switched over fast enough. I would appreciate any feedback.

Welcome Blue...there are many people here that can help you!
Can you put a hard debit hold on your account that your DD is going into? Let your DD go in, take out the $ and put it into the other account and then close it! In the meantime, arrange to have your DD go to your other account.
Someone will be along soon to help with the state laws....

Blue, Welcome..I am assuming Checksmart is a storefront. These you will have to continue to pay. Your best bet is to contact the company and try to work out payment arrangements with them. Do as Volley says and get a hard debit block on your account. If your new account is at the same bank, you need to get in writing assurance that the two accounts will in no way be linked. So when you go negaive in the first account, they will not take money from the new account. Here is the state law:

Blue, What this means to you..The internet loan site is not licensed in our state because internet lending is prohibited in our state according to the Kentucky Deparment of Financial Institutions. At this point I am going to let you take in all this information and ask any questions you need. Roxy

Kati- please read this link before you close your account at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/paydayloan/close-account.html it will give you some info to consider.
The store front ones, like Roxy said, will have to be taken care of, as they tend to follow the rules and also tend to sue. See if you can make a reasonable payment plan with them.
The store fronts I had really did try to work with me, I also went there in person and talked with them.
If you have any questions, please ask..KAren

I planned on taking care of them, as far as trying to get them to work with me, I had tried before when I was really short on money because 5/3 had hit me with a bunch of fees and they stated that they coulndt do anything about it.

I am not happy with them, I swear I have lost at least $1000 to them in fees if not more, I have new accounts at Washington Mutual and so far havent had a problem with them even though I havent really used my account too much there. In all honesty it would be better for me if 5/3 were to return the outstanding payday loan checks, it would actually be a lot cheaper because checksmart only charges $4 for a returned check

Blue, have you tried talking to checksmart manager or district manager? I have read posts where people have had better luck this way. Also have you already had checks returned to checksmart for insufficient funds? I have also read where people have had to wait until their check was processed and returned before the storefront wouls help them. I am sorry I can not be more help, all my pdls were internet. I am soory you are having trouble with 5/3 but am happy you opened your new account at a different bank. Hopefully someone else will be along soon with better advice about dealing with the storefront. As for the internet pdl...they are good for trying to assign wages..you need to do a simple statement to your human resource department revoking any wage assignment you may have signed. You simply put the name and address of the pdl and the statement"I am revoking any wage assignment I may have signed" and sign your name. I know this is alot so I will stop here and give you time to read and ask questions if you need to. If you ned anything at all, please ask us. Roxy

no i havent had any checks returned to them the i think it was the store manager was the one that told me that the return fee was $4 and its posted in the store. lLast time I had a problem they really didnt seem too interested in helping out and trying to work with me. 5/3 usually seems to pay then and then charge the you know what out of me for paying it. I know things will get better it just seems like it will be forever.

Blue, hang in there. We will work on the storefront thing...You work on the 5/3 bank thing. Other members will be reading this and may have another idea on how to deal with them. Atleast try to get them to block debits from your account. Get with your payroll department about your direct deposit and stress to them they need to do this asap. Also be sure to give them your letter revoking the wage assignments. I was worried and did not want to tell my payroll person so I told them my bank account was being illegally debited and I was giving them this letter to protect my bank account. Let me know if I am going to fast for you..... Roxy

Hang on, blue. You have 3 pdl's. One is a store front in Kentucky. One is a store front in Ohio. And one is an internet pdl. Am I correct in reading this? And you're not sure of the internet pdl being CashNetUSA or NetCashUSA. There is a difference between the two. We need to know which internet pdl it is. Also, how do you have a store front pdl in Ohio? I understand you reside in Kentucky. However, did you reside in Ohio at one time and that's how you got the pdl in Ohio? Or did you go to Ohio and get a pdl? Please clarify this information for me, as it might make a world of difference. Also, find out the correct name of your internet pdl. Your 5/3 account, you need to close. If you already have a new account with a different bank, why is your 5/3 still open? Did you just recently open the new one? Are you waiting for your direct deposit to start? But your next deposit is going to 5/3? Please respond to these questions. I know it seems as though I'm asking a lot. However, I live in Kentucky, I have experience with store fronts, and I have experience with 5/3.

The internet loan is thru cashnetusa, and the checksmart in KY recommended getting the one in Ohio to help cover what I was short from fees from 5/3 screwing with my account, and like an idiot I did it. So yes I went to Cincinnati and got the Ohio loan. I have only had the WAMU account maybe a month and havent had a chance to switch my direct deposit over due to the craziness that has been my job lately. But since I am finally off I am going to make a call to HR tomorrow and see if I can maybe pull off a miracle and get Fridays deposit to go to the new account and not the 5/3 account.

Hi Blue...oh yes, see if they can change the direct deposit. I wasnt able to change mine in time but I logged onto my account the morning of payday and saw that my DD went in but the pdl's had not yet posted their debits. I ran so fast to the ATM, took out my $$ and then closed my account.
