I am confused. I want to write a cease and desist letter to the storefront PDL shop Checksmart. Is it true that the FDCPA does not apply to them? If so, is there anyway I can stop them from calling me? I am terrified that they will contact my employer.
I owe them $712. I wrote a letter to the store I borrowed from, asking them to accept payments. I promised to pay $100 a month and enclosed a money order for $50 as proof of my good faith. Is a cease and desist letter useless? BTW, I am an Ohio resident.

If its the storefront collecting, then you are correct. FDCPA applies to 3rd party debt collection entities.

I have to say that I have been getting threatening phone calls. I dont even answer them anymore. They keep leaving me messages saying that I have 48 hours to respond, yadda yadda yadda.
