I hadn't gotten any calls at all. I closed my account last winter and opened a new one. I had PDLs with

Cityview - $300
Cashcentral - $700
AA Payday - $300

Anyway, I have been working with debt management plan making small payments, in which all 3 have been cashing the checks.

I get 6 calls today from:

Kevin Johnson and Richard Bottom - 818-338-5073 followed by Peter Brown 213-784-0745. Very thick accents of not being from the US. Funny they came in on my caller ID on local numbers, but when i call the local number back it says try again later all circuits for this long distance call are busy. They said its dire that I or my retained attorney, do not ignore this, and may god be with you.

First off, they scared my 9 year old daughter who answered the phone by saying its an emergency. I am not sure which one is resorting to these tactics but I am responding by filing with FTC and AG, BBB, both local and federal.

I know none of the 3 are legal within Minnesota as the laws recently changed. Do I really have anything to worry about, or just ignore them and hang up.

Just ignore them and hang up and do as you said..file complaints with all you listed. You have nothing to worry about. They will probably continue to call and harass a few more times until they realize they aren't going to get anything from you. But defianlty make sure you keep records of everything, including the payments you are making to the companies.

So they have called me 5 times. Each time they asked for me, and each time I said there is no such person at this number with that name. They finally said "good bye".

Will see, but it was funny!

same thing with me.. I have not defaulted on ANY loans as I just closed my account today. said they have an affadavit charging me with bank fraud, grand theft, and something else. Very verbally abusive and would not email, mail, or fax me anything. Never was clear as to what they wanted me to do. When I started stating laws that i have learned here, he YELLED at me "who are you to tell me laws. I am a lawyer!"

they did know personal info on me and people I listed as references when applying for a payday loan.

after 20 minutes of trying to understand what he was saying (when he called yesterday, there was so much background noise it sounded like he was in a room of 1000 people talking) and not understanding his very thick accent i finally just hung up. Never did understand his companys name. It was like he garbled it on purpose. He told me he would be contacting my human resources to let them know I have criminal charges against me and that if i am on parole i need to let them know too! I told him to go ahead and send that to my human resources so at least i could see in writing what the heck he is talking about.

the number that showed up on my cell phone was 810676161 (note that numbers are missing?) when i didnt answer (cause this has been going on for several days) he called my work in 2 minutes and that number has to be answered and transferred to me.
anyone know anything about this?

They did that to me at work too. They called my house and then 2 minutes later called my work. My work phone rolls right into voicemail. I did that on purpose. I am sure at some point they will hit zero and get the front desk but I can pass that off as identity theft.

I plan on contact AG, FTC, BBB. I am not sure which PDL company it is yet.

And your right, Theny intentionally garble some of the information.

They're probably calling from some overseas phone bank, which is why you hear voices in the background. It's a safe bet that it's probably Indian. I was getting calls from a similar phone bank for a person I never heard of--and called them back and reamed them for leaving a message on my answering machine, because now I know that person has a debt!

I think many of us here are familiar with these calls; they're a pain, aren't they? I just tell them to hold on a minute, set down the phone, and go about my business.....

Kept getting calls from this number. Answered phone and no one there. Then they finally left a message to call a different number. When I called, no answer. Finally they called back and I spoke with them. Stated that I had federal charges against me for fraud. that I took out a payday loan and never paid it back and that I was going to jail. I never, ever have taken out a payday loan and told them I could prove this. Man said I was being smart with him and that me and my "references" were all going to jail. Spoke with a heavy Indian accent. Now is calling my work and telling coworkers that I have federal charges against me. Said I was due in court in California the next day. I am in Ohio. Gave me the name of a town that does not exist of where I supposedly was due in court. Said they were calling on behalf of the federal government and that they were sending papers to my work and I was to expect a termination letter at work. Would not even tell me who I supposedly borrowed money from or the date. Said I was not entitled to this information. Any suggestions on what to do?

I received a call today from a heavy indian accent man named Kevin Paterson who had my last 4 digits of my SS and some other info and contacted me about saying I had owed a past payday loan an over due amount and I had to be in court the next day. I recently filed chapter 7 and have not had any problems since because well it took care of all my debts. He said no it doesn't cover this loan. I kept asking for a case number and the summons to be mailed or faxed to me. He wanted to do it to the business I used to work at and I was like I don't work there anymore. Finally he gave me a number to call back. - 559-838-0287 which is a california number and still works.
He gave em some phony case number and no other info and told me to have my lawyer contact him.

Bull totally bull.

dont listen to him.
i called the BBB better business bureau and they told me that number is a complete scam.

I keep getting this person named Marcus Luis calling me from 810676161. He's telling me I have federal charges against me. When I asked him to fax, email, or mail me regarding these charges he insists I know what he's talking about. He has called me 8 times in a row on my cell and has also called me at work harassing me. I don't know what to do anymore. He's starting to get very nasty to my co workers when he calls me at work and they ask him information and it's getting embarrising. Any suggestions?

DONT DO IT!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GIVE HIM ANY MONEY! IT IS A TOTAL SCAM! This guy has been calling my office since July. He must have been looking for a student that listed my office as their work number, but when he heard my voice, apparently, his goal changed and he has been calling my office ever since just trying to talk to me and get my cell#. He has called me at my job as may as 25 times a day, daily since July. I have contacted the police and they can not do anything because he is using either a spoof phone or an internet phone that can not be traced. I can not get him to stop calling me at all and I don't know what else to do. I already contacted the phone company and he could not be traced past this 9 digit number. My employer is concidering getting VOIP which will help block his calls, but until then, I'm stuck. Good luck to you all! In NJ.
