Internet's first get-out-of-debt community - 144,000 members

I am working with a debt settlement Company and I keep getting calls from a company named Nationwide Credit claiming that they now have my American Express account....has anyone had any experience with Nationwide Credit? They are claiming that American Express WILL NOT work with a settlement company because they will only accept 'payments' on my account and that they don't 'settle' with anyone.

I am not sure about settelments with American Express but when I went into debt management program AmEx was ok. But they were kind of butt heads about it.

debt settlement will not keep your creditors from continuing to pursue action...and yes, they do not have to settle.

Debt Settlement is much different from Debt Management/Consolidation where the creditor is getting reduced but regular payments.

If they wont work with the debt settlement company, you should make arrangements with them.

the problem is after looking online I see some pretty 'fishy' things about Nationwide Credit and of course am now not trusting what they are telling me. The first couple of people that called me from Nationwide wanted nothing to do with contacting my debt settlement company and wouldn't even take their phone number that I offered them - then the man that called yesterday said he would like the phone number for the company so that he COULD contact them.....just getting a lot of 'mixed signals'.

I can understand that.....kind of playing games. Just know, and keep this in mind, that they are under no obligation to contact your debt settlement company.

well I just spoke with my settlement company and they in fact DID send/fax them notice in December and even had someone from Nationwide Credit CALL THEM, but for some 'reason' the man I spoke with didn't seem to have that information in 'his notes'....I am also told by my settlement company that Nationwide Credit does NOT follow the govt' guidelines and in fact abuse them on a daily basis. Thanks for your input.

Do a google search and I am sure you will find fdcpa violations reported on Nationwide as you will on many.

Tonight I heard on the radio news that Nationwide Credit is in BIG trouble in Buffalo NY because they sent a letter to a man for a $17 bill collection. The letter was addressed to Mr. SxxT Face and went on to say Dear. Mr. Sxxt face. Can you believe this!!!! I couldnt possibly make this up.

Uncle, that was my post on the nasty Buffalo letter. I did not read it I heard it on the news. It was my local radio station but I think it was from CNN or Headline news. You might find it by googling it. I could not believe the gall of these people.
