PDLs are ILLEGAL in maryland unless they are Credit Service Organizations. What are the names of your lenders.

Read HERE for information on dealing with Illegal lenders.

I am just now reading some of these blogs, we currently have 3 onlines and 1 in town. We going down fast with all the fees and want desperatly to get out. I have read where some people are closing their accounts. I talked to my bank yesterday BofA and asked for advice she said to try to talk to the lenders. We are not in default with any of them yet, but can't afford to pay these fees, one of them told me they only work with langhorne debt solutions, and I see on some other blogs where some people have used them. Has anyone found a way to get out of this without losing everything?

Default i read that pdl loans are illegal....

I want to pay these PDL loans back in full? Of course, all 9!!! of the companies I have them with want to charge me the balance plus another finance charge to close it out. Is that legal and if not, how should I go about taking care of that?

Default DON'T BE BULLIED!

I have gotten a few payday loans in the past, which, instead of repaying, I let my bank account close, marked their emails as spam, and simply opened another bank account elsewhere. I applied for a new payday loan, and received a 200.00 deposit into my new account. Geneva Roth Vent, one of the former payday lenders, was made aware of the application I had submitted (when applying for a payday loan, your information is sent to many different lenders) and used my new bank account information to ACH withdrawal what they felt they had coming to them. I filed a dispute with the new bank, which was honored, and the monies and NSF fees were credited back to my account immediately. Here's why this worked; When GRV issued me the initial loan, I electronically signed my loan documents, acknowledging that the loan money would be deposited into my account, and withdrawals for repayment would be debited from the same. This was all good and fine. GRV deposited the money into my bank of XXX account, which I later closed. They had no recourse except for lame threats and bothersome calls, which eventually subsided. Now that they have found out that I have a new bank account, they tried to retrieve their money from it. Problem being is that I never authorized them to take money from any other account except from the XXX bank. They have committed a serious crime (electronic theft & embezzlement) by accessing my new bank account for which they have not been authorized to do. I can hazard an educated guess that payday loans will soon become obsolete. If you don't pay your loan back, the lenders have very few options. The last thing they want to do is to spend a lot of time and money to prosecute you, as they would have to send someone to your state to go to court as a representative of their company, and risk the chance of your not showing up. This would cost their company much more than their initial 200.00 loan and interest rate. They typically do not pursue this route for those very reasons. They prefer to call you and harass you, sent numerous emails, and cast idle threats. If the payday loan company threatens to sue you, accept gladly, and tell them to get the paperwork to you as soon as possible, rest assured that they will not send you anything. They don't have a leg to stand on. In closing, all stated have laws governing payday loans (money transmitters). I suggest you research the applicable laws for your state. You should find a detailed list of companies that are licensed in your state to conduct these types of loans. If the loan company that you are having issues with is not listed, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Default pdl

I can't believe so many people have the same problems that I have. In the last year I have become a single parent, with an adult daughter and grandson also depending on me. Those pdl's are just so damn tempting when you need money to feed a family or pay the electric bill. Now I am in that situation where I can't get caught up on anything because of the pdl fees coming out of my account every 2 weeks. I currently have 3 loans, fees total almost $300 every 2 weeks. I really don't want to close my bank account but it is currently $285 overdrawn and payday is still 10 days away!! I figured it out and I have been charged $500 in bank fees in the last 10 days. When my check is deposited, after the overdrawn amount and those lovely pdl fees, well gee, I won't be able to pay my rent. I don't have a local bank that I can go in and talk to in person either. Any suggestions? I've read lots of ideas but I'm thinking closing my account and stopping my direct deposit for now, might be a good idea. Guess calling my bank and talking to them would be best? Appreciate letting me vent, I've been very frustrated and upset about all this.

What about in NJ? Can you close your account in NJ without any penalties? I have Bank of America and am worried that they might put the debits through from Titan....any advise.

Default PayDay Loans

I have several pdl that I can't even keep track of now. I live in Maryland and was told that pdl are illegal in Maryland. Now one company wants to garnish my wages but I have spoken to them several times and tried to make payment arrangements for this. What are my options? Can I stop them from doing anything because pdl are illegal in Maryland? Where can I find a list of the companies that are licensed in Maryland so that I can check to see if any of my loans are from lenders not licensed in Maryland.

Default thanks to this forum...

I have read and reread many things on this forum, especially this thread about closing your bank account and let me tell you it was the best decision I ever made. I was very uncertain if I should do it, as I wasn't sure what my bank policy was on closed accounts, but i went in, talked to a bank agent. I ended up paying close to $1,000 to close the account (I was overdrawn almost $700 and I had an overdraft protection loan for $300). Well worth it!! My paychecks are all mine and all my payday loan payments got returned to the payday loan companies. The phone calls haven't been as bad as I thought, although one (I think Greenlight Funding) called me and my references pretending to be "Officer So-and-So" and threatening to have me arrested and "wishing me good luck" if I choose to ignore their phone calls!! I still have to figure out a way to pay everyone back, because i did loan the money, but right now I am just catching up on everything I neglected for the last few months trying to stay afloat with these payday loans. I am ever so grateful for this forum, I never would have gotten out of this mess!!! You are all awesome...
