New Jersey prohibits payday loans. It is illegal for any company to lend in your state. You were liable to pay the principal amount only.

Just pay back what you legally owe to them.

If payday loans are prohibited in your state, that applies to internet payday loans also. You are only responsible for the principal amount you borrowed. Make sure you get your letters out and file your complaints. Also, just to be on the safe side, take copies of your letters where you are stating that you revoke authorization for them to debit your account to the back where you closed your account. That way if these places try to continue to debit that account, the bank is aware of what is going on.

I think you should work to repay what you owe by law or the principal amount whichever is greater. If you really want a fight you could push tendollarpay for a partial refund if you overpaid according to your state laws but that will be a tough battle since they are going to fight back saying you still owe them money. Make sure you pay your important bills first before you pay these guys though. These are rent, auto and utilities. Also keep on your bank and make sure they do not force open your account and charge you a bunch of fees for bounced payments.
