I took out a 200 payday loan in august. sometime that month I lost my debit card and changed accounts. I waited for national money store to call me so I could make payments but nothing until 1/9/08 when an investigator lee called and said if I didnt pay 660.00 they would summons me and send me to jail. she said I would have 6 counts against me one of which was fraud and if I had been to jail before. I got them to take 200.00 and she said if I didnt have the rest 2/1 they would continue with the charges. she said they would pull me over in my car and arrest me on he spot. I dont mind paying my bills but this is harassment and beyond the law IMO. her number is 8663316161 ext 210.

No they can't arrest you. They are famous for saying that crap. I do not know how they have gotten away with it for so long without being arrested themselves. Please read the post on this page about them. It is coincidentally right here. It will show you lots about them!

I got a payday loan from National Money Store and I have lost my job. I also had closed my bank accounts because I lost checks and debit card. When I received a call from these people they were beligerant and threatening to say the least. They said they were going to serve papers and have me arrested etc. They called me at work and I asked them not to and hung up. When I got home I called them to resolve a payment plan they said they already signed off on the paper work and I was lying to them etc and would not negotiate anything with me. They people should be prosecuted and put out of business for unfair practicing. This person was david at ext 240.

I have dealt with AS&Associates last year for a payday loan with National Money Store back I got in 2006. I have paid back several rollovers to NMS and they are not allowed in my state of IN. I got a call from a "greg patton" from AS&Associates- he told me me he was from "pre-legal" woohoo....anyway Greg told me the same speech and that I have no intention of paying back the money. He wanted $ 570.00 on a 200.00 loan. I asked for something in writing and he refused. He called my place of employment a few days later and was yelling at me and telling me I committed bank fraud and he was going to "close this investigation" by the next morning if I didnt send him 570.00 by I think it was 2pm. I did not send him anything. I finally got a fax about 5 days later at work stating just that I owed 570.00. I sent a letter of validation to them certified mail- also a cease and desist letter. I also filed complaints against this company and they never responded. You will NOT get arrested!!!! This is a scare tactic. You NEED to file complaints against them ASAP. I agree this company needs to be shut down! They are 1 of the worst CA's I have dealt with! Let me know if you need anymore help.

Take a deep breath. It is a scare tactic. There is no debtors prison. They are trying to get you scared enough to pay.

does this company have rights to collect in florida? also they cld me back and she said they are going to prosecute me...i checked in the state of florida...but i dont know what else to do...i am not scared i just cant afford someone trying to press charges on me or take me to court for some bs.

Not sure on that but I can tell you that there isnt going to be any charges. They cant press charges for a bad debt. If that were the case millions of people would be in jail right now. What did you find out with FL?

I have been getting calls from the same company, and yes I was hearing the same thing...WOW. I don't mind paying my bills, but time has gotten hard, and on top of that the people I got the loan with, you can't even get a good contact number for them..I'm glad I pulled this up on line, I wanted to see if they were real about goping to court and all of the quick collect stuff you can do. the lady has call my job several time, and leave me messages to call before 12 noon...her name is Diane Roberts her number is 866-331-6161*205, I think something needs to be done about all these CRAZY collector, its not fair that they don't respect your privacy, but that's how they make their money scaring innocent people like us up to get it back, and then they charge more than you received. Thanks, I'm glad I read this today I feel a little better NOW!!!!

I agree it is a scare tactic, i got the same call yesterday, and the guy from this company name was david burnstein ext. 211 and he said that if i didnt pay by wednesday that he would send someone so that they can arrest me, i took out a loan 300 dollars and they wanted 730 back. David called me today and I told him that he was breaking the law when he told me he was going to send me to jail, When I told him that he denyed saying that to me, because he knew I knew my laws, right then and there i knew it was all a scam, Im willing to pay this but these people are trying to rip me off, and Im not paying until I get a notice in mail... So advice to all dont be scared by these tactics they just want money....

Can someone help me on my issue. Yesterday I got an message from my stepfather saying that an Inspector Lee called and she said it was important. Well I call her this morning at 7:45 am and left a message. She didn't call me back until 3:30 pm and told me that National Money Store will are bring up charges on me and that I will get jail time if I don't pay them 685.00. I went on to the website and found out that I owe them 395.00. I need to know if I can go to jail and I also found out that the company is in Texas, but how can they bring up charges in Pennsylvania. Do I have anything to worry about. Because I was on my way to giving them my rent money and that would have made me and my kids homeless. Can someone give some advice plllleeeeaaaassseeee!!!!!!

to the last two posters.they are just blowing smoke.debts are civil matters not criminal ones.they can't therefore won't have you arrested.that is a tactic of an illegal bottomfeeder.if they won't furnish any info about there illegal company don't deal with them period.
