I just got a call from this number 800-918-3849. They threatened me with legality mumbo jumbo, arrest, court dates and all sorts of crap. I know the loan they are talking about and I paid it through another company. When I asked them why I hadn't recieved anything from them via mail they rattled off my correct address MINUS the right zip code. Of course I wouldn't have gotten anything from them right? Well I told them I could send them whatever they needed to take care of this. She proceeds to put ME on hold. WTH?! You called me now you want me to keep holding? I don't think so. Then when I call her on that she transfers me to an even bigger jerk. I had to ask him about 10 times to give me their phone number. Well I searched around this site for a while and found the cease and desist (sp?) letter. I called the number back trying to get their address and NO ONE there would give it to me. All I need is the address, you don't need to know me or where I'm calling from or any of that bull. Just give me the address. I hung up. How can I go about getting the correct company name and address to send this off to these jerks?

It was a payday loan. I called back and they wouldn't give me any info. I want to send this letter BUT they didn't even tell me the name of the company they were with.

Ok, I called them back. The Kirstin girl I talked to before transferred me to her "boss." I asked for the address. He gave me the run around and didn't want to give it to me. He kept asking me for my attorneys name. Told me NOT to try and control the conversation. I let him know quick that I wasn't controlling anything just simply asking for information. He said my SS# was my account number. How is that so? I don't want to put my SS on the cease and desist letter. Oh well. I guess I'll have to. I don't even know who the orginal creditor is. I am going to have to do some digging. The threatening to take me to court is really getting to me. I mean I know they can't just COME GET ME but good lord.

Is it a storefront loan or an internet payday loan? What company is it with? How much have you paid so far?

Ok, it was an internet payday loan. I have already taken care of this or so I thought. I don't know how much is owed or anything because they wouldn't tell me. They just kept asking me who my attorney was.

Don't stress about it, chances are they are illegal and are just using scare tactics to try to get you to pay. I am assuming you have been making payments through your bank account? What is the company's name?

rdnckgal - this company is blowing smoke. They cannot have you arrested, put in jail, or send anyone to your door.

Give us the following information on ALL of your payday loans, and we can help you with some advice on how to deal with them:

-state you live in
-name of each lender
-whether they are internet or storefront based
-how much you borrowed from each one (no fees included, just the principal)
-how much you've paid back on each one (including any fees/interest)

With that info, we can help you get out of this endless cycle.

I have heard others here mention a company that has the same tactic of asking you over and over "Who you attorney is" as a way to belittle you when you finally say you dont have one. Shit next time make up a name "Jacoby and Meyers", I dont know and then hang up.

And demand to get any information in writing from them. If they don't do this, then don't give them a dime. Also, you said you already took care of this. Do you have copies of any checks you may have sent, showing that they were cashed?

When I asked them the name of the original creditor they said SSM Company. I'm going to have to look at my records and figure out who that is. I thought it was Global Payday loans, but I took out two, each with different companies. One of them is totally paid off. They debited from my bank account.

Like I said, I took out 2 loans the beginning of this year when times were really rough. One of them is completely paid off. I am pretty sure I still have the money order receipts from where I paid the second one.

The threats yesterday on the phone were horrible. Talking about carrying stolen money across state lines or something like that. Arrest...court and they are located down in St. Mary's, Georgia. It was like squeezing blood from a turnip getting that info from them. They didn't want to give me any of their information. I thought that was a bit shady. I have not been contacted by mail by them either.

Just remember not to get upset by this . It is nothing more than idle threats, and they can not do anything but harass you. Carrying money across state lines, come on what lunacy.These people will say anything to scare people.

i know i am late on this- but I had calls like this too, next time they ask for an attorney, I am going to tell them , I going to be Pro-Se and they will go huh?

You have a right to represent yourself in all court cases. Representing yourself is called acting pro se. Pro Se is a Latin phrase that means "for yourself."

These idiots act like they are attorneys so they should know what Pro se is.
