Well, I just got off the phone from talking to one of the district managers. She told me her storefront manager physically went into the bank and had been told our account was open and funds were available? I called the bank and indeed a person came in with a check and asked that they give her a cashiers check and they told her that they could not give her one as it was made out to a company...that they would look to see if funds were available, she replied "Oh I know they are available." and left the bank in a huff.
This is the second one who has tried this tactic...telling me the account was open. I have talked to both bank managers and the tellers and they have told them no such thing?
What now?

As long as the bank is saying your account is closed, it is closed. This may be a scare tactic that they are using.

The bank has to tell them if funds are available to cover the check but can not cash a check made payable to a company and turn it in to an official check. At least not from my knowledge. As long as they have the check they can try to process the check.
Is the account open? If it is they might try to deposit the check. I would think the bank would be closer to telling you the truth than the Pay Day Lender.

Angel...the account that the check is on was closed. But she is now telling HER manager that I lied and the account is open?
Pulling hair out here. I just want this nightmare over.

Don't pull your hair out and try to relax... They are obviously just trying to drive you crazy!
If the account is closed then it is closed and I'm not even sure why it would matter if you lied to them or not. If it makes you feel better as for a letter from the bank stating that the account is closed and the date it was closed and then mail a copy to the Storefront. The bank shouldn't have a problem with providing a quick letter for you.
Just curious... what is the point the Storefront is trying to make??

Egypy, as long as the account is closed, please try to calm down. These pdls are so low, they will try and say anything.

Angel, I am guessing they want me to think tht I am low and just do not want to pay them? I am also guessing that this gal was mad because she could not get a certified check on the behalf of her company...or they want me to admit I have another checking account?
The bank has assured me that they lead them to believe no such thing?

I'm sure they want you to feel bad about yourself but don't! You can only "do what you can do" and that is all there is to it!
Even if you have another account and the funds are in it there is no way for them to cash a check drawn off of one account from another account. It would also be hard for the bank to make that type of statement to a non account holder (the Storefront)without breaking some type of privacy law. It's possible that IF the Storefront manager went in to the bank and asked them if there were funds available that MAYBE one of the tellers told them something like "not available in this account"....
Either way the point is moot because the account the check is drawn off of us CLOSED! Don't let them bother you... have you tried to make payment arrangemwnts with them before you closed the account?
I'm not the best one from a PDL perspective but from what I understand soem Storefrons are registered somewhere and have to make arrangements with you if you go in to do so before you default. I would think that either way they will want to work something out with you in order to recover some of the funds.
You can count on one thing though... I know my banking pretty well

Egypt, my heart goes out to you! I'll go beat them up if you want, although I don't think I'm very scary looking.

You are making me laugh hre Mom...but ya know I think the plane fare for you to come here might be a bit much.
I just got off the phone with the first gal who said she did this...you know this may be what they are trying now? Because two have done it? She is going to talk to her manager to see if they can take payments or if it will be sent to collections. SENT TO COLLECTONS.....could have done that in the first place? No? They may all go there and I will be out of this in about 6 years...LOL
Then I went to the mail and got a notice from another threatening legal action? if not taken care of in thirty days?

Just remember that THEY CAN'T EAT YOU!
Most people want their money, which is understandable, and will work with you to get it back. Just make sure that if they make arrangements with you that you agree to something that you can afford. If the one that sent the letter is a storefront I would call them right away in an effort to set up arrangements which will let them know you want to take care of the obligation. Legal action would cost them money so they should want to work with you!
