How Strange

One of the companies that I defaulted with was One Step Cash, I have not heard from them since April.I just checked messages at home , and someone left a # to call them. I assumed it was a pdl so being the great PDL customer that I am, I called back.
Well it was the collection agency for One Step who told me I owed 480.00. I said no, that I only owe 300.00, that I was working on this with the AG blah blah blah. He then said Oh , but it is going to legal. I said ok , but I dont thimk there is much legal can do on an illegal loan. Mr. Collector then said OK I do see it was already charged off. Please excuse this call we just buy old debts and try to collect on them.
My question to you guys is WTF?????

So in other words... if u were just John Doe who didn't know these things as most don't then they would make u pay! And also, isn't it illegal for him to tell u that it's going to legal when it's really not??
These CA's never cease to amaze me!

I wonder if his supervisor was in the background telling him to just let it go, or he just didnt know what to do. But very strange that he would admit they buy junk debts....????

If they call again, tell them you want something in writing and get their info.

BUt yes, I agree very unusual

You know what. I don't find this odd. The only thing I actually find odd is that the guy actually SAID "oh never mind, it's been charged off, we buy old debts." That surprises me. The only reason that I don't find this odd is because of the pdl that "sold" my account to a collection agency. Now, mind you, this pdl was overpaid and refunded. However, the pdl "sold" it to the collector. When I spoke with the collector, he told me he "didn't understand why (pdl name) would sell this debt if it was paid and refunded." So he basically told me they buy debts. No shit. We're not stupid. I had to fax him proof from the pdl that this was indeed paid in full and refunded. So, I was like "sorry about your luck that you BOUGHT a debt that you can not collect on." They're out some money and not getting any in return. Too bad for them.

But Cannr, this is the only one that I did not pay. I actually still owe the principle. I was waiting for one step to contact me, but they never did.The only one I heard from was this joker

Right . . . Maybe it was a new guy and he just didn't know what to say . . . . It's odd that they gave in so easily!

Or, since you are in New York, did that make a difference? Maybe you got someone with 1/2 a brain? Oh. How stupid of me. Probably not. You know what? I personally wouldn't even sweat it. It's odd, but to hell with them. LOL!

Well, I am not going to do anything about it. Lets see if they cintact me again. I doubt that anyone there has 1/2 a brain, so I dont know if New York has anything to do with it

Maybe once you mentioned your AG, poor Mr. Dickhead crapped in his pants and changed his tune!
