So I had an agreement in writing with them, via email, that they agreed that $the $75.00 in remaining principal would pay the account in full. They also sent a response to the Oregon Dept. of Finance and Insurance saying they agreed to setlle for $75.00. I sent the moneygram for $75.00 on Saturday, 5/17/08, as agreed.
I've tried emailing Sonja about a dozen times over the last two days to get the paid in full acknowledgment she promised. No response. I finally called this morning and got some rude lady named Valerie. I explained the situation. She said we never received the payment. WTF??? She also said that Sonja authorized them to go in TODAY to take out several hundred dollars - can't remember if she said $225 or $525. I insisted I made the payment. She very rudely demanded the reference # for the moneygram. I didn't have it with me and said "excuse me" bacause of her rude tone. She showed no concern that I had really sent the payment and that they might be mistaken. She hung up on me!
Then I called and got some staffer on the line. I gave her the moneygram reference #. She said they DID recieve it, but that Sonja did not wave the rest of the balance and authorized them to go in and take more money out of an account they know has been closed for over a month. I left a voice mail for Sonja. Still no response or acknowledgment.
They put in writing that I would have a paid in full letter and I paid what we agreed to when I was supposed to pay it. They LIED to me.  I am so mad I could just very well fly out to pay them a little visit.

As long as you have it in writing from them you are good. They made an agreement, you held up your end.

I sent EastSideLenders letters last month that i would pay the $250 balance off the principal and nothing more. I havent heard from them since.

I'm a very tolerant person. But the one thing I have NO tolerance for is DISHONESTY and being deceived and lied to like this.
I will move on - provided they do as well.
I just really needed to vent on this one!!!

After reading some posts from 2007 about ESL, I'm not sure this is really over, or if it will ever really be over. They are finding out people's new bank information and hitting them several months later- that's pretty creepy/scary stuff.
"Let it go"? I'm not so sure... I hope someone has the backbone to sue these people and set a precedent. Some things are so wrong, and someone needs to stand up to these people and say "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore"!!!
