question about Eastside Lenders

I have read the terms and conditions on the website for Eastside Lenders and it doesnt' say anything about licensing applying to their state regardless of what state I live in and I have also checked the Arkasnas list and they do not show up as licensed. Does that mean that I am not liable for the amount beyond the $300.00 I borrowed or not? I want to get these paid for and gone. We have decided that once we get these taken care of, we won't have a checking account any longer. We function better with cash and we can buy Visa Debit Cards when we need to. Thanks so much for all the help I've already received on this site. It makes me feel so much better to know that there are other people going through the same thing and they got to the other side. Most of the pdl companies in Arkansas do not hold active licenses with the Division of
Check Cashers, but are still in business. The State of Arkansas Regulatory board has established a division of check cashers to write regulations, license, inspect and regulate check cashers and the pdl companies. Therefore, it becomes a must for any company to have their business listed with the state.

If Eastside Lender is not included with your state board, you should first pay off the principal amount. You'll not be legally obligated to pay their interests and fees since they are not a licensed company. You may contact your state authority for more information about this company.

Eastside Lenders is not even licensed in their own state. So I can be sure they're not licensed in your state. You are only obligated to pay the principle amount of the loan. They are an unlicensed company.

I am kind of in the same situation. I borrowed some money from them a while back, I payed some, but not all. They say I owe 192.00. I told them I would send a money gram to buy some time, but now they are saying if I don't pay, they will issue me a summons. Can they do that?

If they are illegal , how can they send a summons? Even if they do, being that they are not a legally operating company what court would honor it?

Eastside lenders is not licensed in their own state,as stated above. They most likely are not licensed in your state. No license = not legal

Well, nothing has been actually "served". I think this is just "words" they are using. They used "mediation" with me. I told them to bring it on. Did I ever go to mediation? No.

It's where you would sit down with you, them, and a mediator (sp?). Yeah, you owe the debt, no, you don't owe the debt, blah, blah, make payments arrangements, blah, blah. Now, if this were a "legal" company I would probably have totally freaked out. However, are they going to come to my state (no), a nice illegal company (no) to try to make payment arrangements on a nice illegal debt (no). So, it was a threat. Now, like I said, if this was like some LEGAL storefront in my state, I would probably have totally freaked out! But I just don't see Eastside Lenders traveling to someones state to show themselves and say "give us money". Show me your license to lend to me.

Eastside has as many threads on here as any IPDL out there and there is not one case that I know of where they did anything more than issue hollow threat trying to intimidate. Illegal is illegal.

Read cannr's last thread about Eastside. It speaks volumes about what lowlife weasels they are.
