Ever dealt with a company called EAG?

Got a call from Jason Melrose at Economic Advocacy Group (EAG) today on behalf of Bayside Cash saying he's a process server and are going to press with a lawsuit against me because I refuse to pay. Actually he hung up on me when I told him I had handled this with Bayside (paid $1300 on $400 loan) and until he could prove to me anything legit I wasn't agreeing to anything.

1. I searched for any record of this company as he said they are legit and I could find nothing. He offered to email something LOL. Nothing at BBB or phone numbers search.

2. Told him according to the state of Ohio this is illegal and Bayside cannot sue for this since the state does not recognize this company as legally doing business.
- His reply was glad you said that since you are being recorded on a federal line!!

3. I had contacted Bayside in Oct and they have yet to formally respond to my revocation letters other than this guy calling.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Almost forgot...he also said I was being charged with check fraud. Since I did not comply by the loan agreement.

I think this is a scam. They are trying to scare you. Don’t make any payments without verifying anything.

this is a scam,and jason is a piece of garbage.use that name and any number that came up to file a police report.then check with AG'S website on reporting protocol.if you can file online do it.just di that and ignore the SOB as he broke the law hand over fist with that.report and ignore.

I figured it was probably a scam. He stated that the filing would happen on Feb 3 and after I told him I'm not paying anything he then added he's trying to help me b/c I will be charged under Title 18 for check fraud (which I never issued a check).

I'll check the county court docket Monday just to be sure even though he couldn't tell me what county he's suing in!!

i really would only check your court clerk's site as that is where he would have to file any action civil,or criminal.in the case of a civil suit anyplace but your county is considered improper service,but that is mott because i guarantee nothing will be there.civil or criminal.use your name as the defendent when searching.when it's confirmed nothing is there.do as advised above,and hang up in his face if he does call at work as you are under no obligation to speak to the cretin any further.

I also got a call from this advocacy group. They informed me actually of my rights and responsibilities and helped get my balance reduced. I looked them up because I was also curious. I find no complaints against them and the only thing that really came up was mrich's blog. They were of great service to me.
I actually lost my job as a teacher and my mortgage was due so I took out a payday loan. Apparently the loan I took out was sold to a law office who were about to file claim against me with a service of process. The advocate never said they were the process servers, but that there would be a "service of process," in which case I would have to deal with this through litigation. Again, I looked this up and it was true. In fact, in 6 states you can actually be arrested for not paying this loan back in its alloted time. LOOK IT UP!
I spoke with a Mr. Allen and he informed me of all this and even told me what to do if this ended up being a civil claim against me. He told me claim "insolvency" and get a "paupers request" which shows I'm struggling and can't pay right now. They didn't even call me sweating me about the money, they were just offering me the alternative to deal with this issue voluntarily.
Imagine not paying your car loan or mortgage---loans. There are ramifications to not paying (repo, leins, forclosures, etc.), so why would an unsecured payday loan be any different? Lawyers can and will sue if they purchased the loan and depending on where you live... you can be arrested! Smh I think the advocacy group helped me and were very polite in doing so and answered all my questions. I'm satisified with their performance.

I wasn't even threatened to be put in jail. I was told it would be a civil matter if it couldn't be resolved voluntarily, which, by the way, is perfectly LEGAL. A person can definitely be SUED for not paying back a payday loan!! Dude, where do you get your info. from? This is all over the internet---it's a debt owed. Where do you think it goes if you don't pay it? I don't know if you're a shill for them or just an innocent person unfortunately falling for their BS. I will share what I have learned about this group in the past 10 days.

1. Their address is for an abandoned building in Buffalo
2. They just got a "website" a few day ago.
3. They don't have a business license I could find or license to act as debt collectors as they are trying to collect debts for illegal payday loan companies.
4. They are not registered with BBB which has nothing to do with whether a company is legit b/c you don’t find them listed.
5. This group got their "business" by answering a Craig's List posting by some group called TurnKey.

Did you know any of that before you decided to a “voluntary arrangement” with them? No advocate calls one day threatening to serve you legal documents and then the next day begging you to call them back then call back threatening legal action to now attempting to make withdrawal on your bank account (unauthorized mind you) for a crazy amount of money.

My advice to you is be a bit more careful the next time you get a random phone call from people advocating to make arrangements with your money. I'd rather do my due diligence and end up going before a judge than get scammed out of money by just believing them.

This group is fraudulent. I have filed complaints with FTC and my State Attorney General. This group is a bunch of scammers and are not out to help anybody but themselves.
