I just got this email...I was also called 7 times in less then 1/2 hour...this first time I talked to a Mr. Johnson....this is the email he sent me. I overpaid these jerks last august...the loan was for $ 200.00.....now they want 1,000.00.
Mr. Johnson kept calling me after I told him to stop calling here and keeping me from my job. He ended up calling my place of employment again and this time I had him talk to my supervisor. She told him to never call here again!
THIS IS THE EMAIL.....

WTF. These guys are nuts. They first off expect you to pay them 1000.00 for a 200.00 loan that you already overpaid. Secondly they expect you to give them you bank account info. They are really not in this world

tweety, be sure to write a "Dear Chris" letter tomorrow. Good God. $1000 for an overpaid $200 loan. And they're popping up after all this time? Oh. And don't forget to include your new bank account information. Are these people insane?

What I dont get it that they are telling you that you can pay based on the dates and amounts you select...but then they say you need to pay $1000. I am dumb or I just dont get it...contradict themselves from one sentence to the next!

I personally think they are high you have already paid them. I would send him an email back that states that once again and forward all of this information to your state ag's office, ftc, bbb and anywhere else it should go. This is TOTAL BS

Just had to pass this along.....
This is the response I got from Route66 today....tell me what you think?
Dear Ms. *****
I am responding to your complaint received on October 17, 2007.
My name is David from the Customer Solutions Department at Route 66 Funding. The Customer Solutions Department endeavors to resolve customer issues and come to a solution suitable to both parties.
Firstly, we would like to apologize for the calls made at your place of employment and for the unnecessarily rude behavior of our representatives, so to overcome this, we have now restricted access to your work number, so you will not be inconvenienced. Secondly, as requested by you to revoke debits through your checking account, we will not debit your bank account any further.
Having reviewed our files, I can confirm the following. Our records show that you took a short term loan for $150 on August 04, 2006. This loan was transacted between you and Route 66 Funding, which is an offshore, non-U.S., based entity. According to the terms agreed to by you, the Agreement and any disputes arising there under were to be governed by English law. The contract was a verbal one and neither party was required to submit any documentation of the Agreement to the other.
According to the terms and conditions, which were made clear and agreed by you when you took the loan, for each pay day a payment was due to us, you had the option to either extend the loan by paying only the extension fee or, if you wanted to close the loan, you could pay the current extension fee together with the outstanding principal loan amount ($150).
At present the outstanding balance of your loan comprises of the total missed extension fees and the principle amount borrowed.
However, notwithstanding this, upon a review of your file, and as we remain committed to resolving the matter amicably with you, as we are with all our customers. I am authorized to offer you a discounted amount of only $100 as a goodwill gesture, towards which we will waive all incurred fees and charges on the loan and also close your loan account with us. Furthermore, that amount can be paid either via money order or money gram and the payment can also be paid in installments.
Should you require anything further from us at this time, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,
David Michaels

tweety, these guys also wanted to 'settle' with me for another $100 via moneygram to them. I had also overpaid the loan. I had overpaid approximately $100 and they wanted another $100 to "close" it - and by moneygram! No way. I told them I had already overpaid and wasn't going to give them MORE money on top of it. Yes, they still haunt me. But I'll be damned if I give them another $100 on top of the $100 I overpaid past the principle. To an illegal company at that! You do what you feel is best. I just wanted to let you know that apparently this is their 'standard way' of "resolving" accounts. Ask for another hundred bucks. Amazing.

I just found it funny that at first they wanted 1,000 on a 150.00 loan. Now they will settle for 100.00....Also, I thought I had seen from other people that they could not send money orders and/make payments...

That is the same way I "settled" with one of mine (not a dba)...I went ahead and paid it just to have them out of my life...but as Cannr said that is a choice we all have to make.
