Hey everyone! I know I know, its been quite a while since I've been here. Have been going through quite a bit over the past few months!
So I get to work this morning and I have a voicemail from this guy saying that he needs to speak with me or my attorney regarding a fraud investigation made on me and my social. At first - I kind of freaked, then I thought about it, and googled the number, just to find out that it this number is Westbury...what freaks...At any rate, just wondering if this is another scare tactic of theirs?
Regards,
s

It is just another thing to get you to call them. Some people have had a bad experience with them. But I for one didn't. Maybe I just got lucky with the person that got my account. But I would call/write them and tell them not to call you at work anymore. I avoided them for months, then finally called them and set up payment arrangements and they worked very weel with me. But like I said before some others haven't been so lucky. So it's up to you as to what you want to do with them.

Regarding Westbury, I had filed an online complaint with the BBB, and about a week later I received a call from them stating that they were mailing me my requested (my BBB resolution) debt validation with all the info I asked for. That was last week, and I still haven't received it.
Have you filed complaints with the BBB, the FTC, and your state's AG office yet? Everyone will be suggesting that you do so!

I am refusing to making payment arrangements with them as I've overpaid them (by 100+%), and that they've neglected the laws regarding PDL's in my state (they are illegal here). We do have a small loan law, which caps of the interest, and roll-overs are prohibited, so they aren't worth my time or my energy.

then I would just let it be. Because they will not try to sue you for the money because they know they are illegal. File your complaints though.
I didn't over pay, I did still owe. So that is why I settled on my account.
