TV commercials - payday loans

Happened to see a commercial this weekend on behalf of our "friendly payday lenders," all about how they help people to get money when they need it, encourage responsible finances, etc., etc. PDLs' are prohibited here in Maryland, but our TV stations also serve DC and Virginia where PDls' are legal. After what I've been thru with PDL's, seeing this commercial made me want to "do an Elvis," and destroy my TV set!

Oh, I know. I got mad enough and called one of them and found out they are not even licensed in my state to lend Mad I asked why then do you have ads here. Well they said that some of the states next to us may get our station through their cable company so they may want to get one Evil or Very Mad I told them that was a line of B.S. But I get mad whenever I see one also. Hmmmm...maybe instead of doing those tv spots they could give the customers lower interest or better yet just close lol.

Puddle, I like the close plan. I am really getting sick of their dumb ads. When I watch CNN or Headline news they show the commercial like twice an hour. I think they are trying to improve their images. Isnt gonna work!

About the only thing any of us could possibly do would be to contact the TV station showing the ads and voice our displeasure. Couldn't hurt, anyhow. Or maybe write our people in Congress, the FCC, or someone, to say that if these ads HAVE to be on TV, that they should specifically state where they're legal or illegal, and, if for specific companies, put their interest rates, etc., right on the screen?

To me it's like the cigarette companies or the beer companies trying to show that they are responsible. Their products kill you financially and in reality, but yet, they are "good guys", so they have to go trolling for new customers.
