Payday loan troubles

I stumbled on this site today and am very pleased with the info that I have found on it. I saw the letter to get payday loans paid in full and sent it to a few of the places where I have loans - I'll let you know if it works.

Just wondering if anyone else has had success with it or not. I'm in NY and these are my loans:

Pay Day Max - loan $600, have paid so far $865.08
EZ Payday Cash - loan $350, have paid so far $425
500 Fast Cash - loan $300, have paid so far $270
United Cash Loans - loan $300, have paid so far $270

Does anyone else have any ideas on how to get out of this mess? I sent the C & D letters and for the 2 that I have paid more than the prinicple I asked for it to be marked paid in full and have asked for refunds. The other 2 I have asked to set up a postal mail money order system to pay the remaining $30 that I have on them each since these loans are illegal in my state (which I didn't know until today!)

I notified my bank and put stop payments on their debits that they are going to take out within the next week and a half, and hopefully that will work and I won't have to close my account. Is there anything else that I should be doing? Any ideas on how else to get out of this mess?

Thanks!

greetings.first all of your pdl's are illegal as pdl's are prohibited in NY.second you only owe the last two 30.00 each.stop payments won't work because all these places will do is change co names, amounts,or put through a paper check.you need to close your current account and open a different one,or put your current account on deposits only status.you will be able to access your money, but will haveto go in person.do either of those two as i stated stop payments won't work.then get letters stating that pdl's are prohibited in NY and will pay the principle.request or demand PIF'S from PAYDAYMAX and EZPAYDAY.technically they owe you a refund of overpaid monies, but there is no guarantee they will.500fastcash and united cash you owe 30.00 each.now i won't lie to you these places are illegal they know it and will fight you.they will also threaten alot of stuff they cannot do.you mentioned wage assignment revocation letters.good get those to your payroll or hr person before sending them to the pdl's.take care of your bank account first then send the letters.again welcome and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.we are here to help.

would it help if I got the ACH processor involved and had them stop all ACH debits from my account? I just read that that worked for several people.

yes that should work.then the two you owe might be more willing to work with you.the two who owe you refunds might just mark your loan PIF,but that's better than them saying you still owe.i would push for refunds though.your bank should be able to help with that too.

not really, just inform them of the four illegal pdl's and two you have over paid and the other two you have just about paid.tell them what you want to do specifically.meaning you want there access to your money cut off.they should have no problem with that.being in NY should make it easier for them to do this.

I hope the information below will help you. Smile
You are only obligated to pay back the principal amount you borrowed from an unlicensed/illegal Internet Payday Lender.

Quote:
What should you do?
Close your account asap, if you are unable to close your account, go into your bank and ask to speak with the Branch Manager, tell him/her you need a hard debit block placed on your account immediately! Explain that you are revoking ACH authorizations from unlicensed/illegal companies, and have learned these companies are notorious for ignoring revocation, therefore it is important to BLOCK any withdrawal attempts on your account to protect your interest. This is your privilege, do not accept no for an answer. The following link will provide you important information regarding closing accounts. CLICK HERE

What next?
AFTER your account is secure send each pdl (the unlicensed and illegal) an email similar to THIS (please scroll down to locate letter template). Tailor this letter to your needs, and try to write it with the same basic concept in your own words. You will need to research and locate email addresses/physical addresses if you don't already have them, I suggest that you type the name of the pdl (example: "oneclickcash address") in the search box in the upper right hand corner of this forum. You may also search for addresses HERE at the Better Business Bureau.

File complaints: Most of the time, you can file a complaint online with the following, I encourage you to follow through with doing so, you will need to search the Internet for your state Attorney General's website, however, here are links to file complaints for the FTC, Online complaints: Federal Trade Commission., and the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.

Keep in mind that you may not receive a response for days, or even weeks, or, you may receive harassing and threatening phone calls. I have found the best way to deal with this is not to respond or reply, simply hang up.

Side note: If you have paid an illegal/unlicensed payday lender above and beyond the principal amount you borrowed, it might be a good idea to demand a refund and a paid in full letter/receipt. You may or may not get one or both. It still doesn't hurt to include that tidbit in your letter. Smile
