close your account first and foremost, then make arrangements that are feasible with who you actually owe. Remember to check your state's laws regarding how much you can legally be charged. They may get snippy with you but just ignore them and pay what you can pay.

Yes, know the laws of your state. These pdl places will try to make any amount of money from you by using scare tactics. If you are aware of the laws in your state and pay them according to the permissible charges, you don't need to worry. Go through your bank statements and calculate how much is paid so far. Then you can call the companies and work out arrangements. They will be willing to work on your terms. In case, you need professional help, speak to a debt consultant.

Welcome to the Community Very Happy Here is a link that goes state by state on pls at http://www.paydayloaninfo.org/states.cfm find out the info for your state, if these are operating legally, and how much you have paid. They will use scare tactics and all sorts of things to scare you into paying. If they are store front loans, try to work something out with them, since most operate leagally and will take you to court. If you have any questions, please ask..KAren

Diana,

Welcome to the forums Smile First of all, take a deep breath and relax for a minute. I too have been in the pdl trap and there is a light at the end of the tunnel. What state do you live? We can help if you don't understand your state laws. Some of these will probably call you at work. It's just tools of their trade so to speak. Yes, some can get nasty. I e-mailed them, faxed them, and mailed them letters stating not to contact me at work or my references regarding this matter. You will have to be consistent with them because they don't take a hint! If you need help, please feel free to ask. We are here to help Smile

My bank is not closing my account, they are trying to find me a loan to pay off Pdls. They haven't call me back today like they said they would do I getting worried. In order to open a new account they would have to run another credit check and my credit score have gone down since my pdls. Paying them and neglecting my other bills which was never late. This is getting out of hand. Are internet payday loans legal in Louisiana. I'm asking but deep down i know they are. I don't understand the laws for Louisiana help me understand please.

I posted the laws in LA in your other post regarding this matter. If your credit score is low, chances are your bank will not be able to provide you with a loan so you will have to handle this the long way but in the end it pays off!
