I have closed my account which will stop Cash in a Wink and Loan Shop from debiting from my account. Cash in a Wink is due to debit my account on 11/18 and Loan Shop is due to debit my account on 11/5 so I didn't expect to hear from them until atleast that time.

Just today I recieved a call from Cash in a Wink at work. Because it was my work number I told them not to contact me at the number and hung up. So far they have not emailed me and haven't called my cell.

Should I call them to see what they wanted or just ignore the call?

You know what they want! I would ignore them until I got something in the mail. Why allow yourself to be threatened?

Would they know at this point that they can't access my account when they aren't supposed to debit until the 18th???

Plus I am disputing some of the charges with my bank (banks suggestion)so I thought that might be why they are calling.

My opinion here? Do not call them. You will be harrassed via telephone. Do all communcation via email or USPS only. You want documentation of everything.

OK... Now someone from "The Westbury" called. I assume this is the Loan Shop...

This is how the call went:
Me: "This is (name removed for safety. cannr). How may I help you"
Westbury: "This is Ms. Whatever she said her name was from The Westbury..."
Me: "I do not accept personal calls at this number."
Westbury: "This is not a personal matter...."
ME: "Is this office business?",
Westbury:She says "No, but..."
ME: "Then it sounds like a personal matter for which I do not recieve calls at my place of employment." and hung up.

Almost immediately after I got a call on my cell. Message said "This is Ms Whatever from the Westbury calling....(LONG PAUSE)...about....a client. Please call me back immediately so we can handle this voluntarily."

First of all, should I return the call? I think I have an email, should I do that???

Second, can they actually do anything?

Dont call them back. Do everything via email or regular mail that way you have proof. Did you already send the letters out to them?

I have emailed both companies revoking their rights to debit my accouts and demanding that all communication be in email or USPS.

chey, do not return the call. From what I understand, Westbury is nasty. You don't need to put up with a harrassing phone call. Do everything via email or USPS. You want documentation of everthing. Email them and ask them what they want. You did send letters revoking their debit authorization and asked them to only contact you via email or USPS. You did what you should have done. Now do everything via email or USPS. Let them put their nastiness in writing. And have you filed any complaints yet?

I sent emails yesterday revoking their right to debit my acccount and to make all contact in email or USPS.

I have not filed any complaints yet. Who do I need to file with?

chey, you need to file with the BBB (bbb.org), the FTC (ftc.gov), and your state AG. I just "googled" my state attorney general and the site came up. Look under something called Consumer Protection. Click on that and then look for File a Complaint. Click on that. The BBB and the FTC, you can file on line. I'm not sure about your state AG. Some states, you can file the complaints on line. Others (like mine), you have to download the form and fill them out and mail them in.

I have filed complaints with the BBB and FTC on The Loan Shop and Cash in a Wink and notified both companies by email.
